I'm in a 5 year old, 16 team mixed keeper league. I won the title this year, and in 2006. We get to keep 8 veteran players, and 3 rookies, out of a 30 man roster. I have plenty of time to decide, but if I won't to win 3 in a row, I need to get a early start.

One of the moves that I am considering, is to trade C Brian McCann, so I can keep SP Javier Vazquez, he really pitched well, down the stretch, and in the play-off's. If I do that, I could draft a catcher, or, consider using C Geovany Soto, he is considered a rookie in this league, any thoughts? My other keepers will be, Howard,Rollins, Sabathia,Zambrano,Webb, Oswalt,

Haren, and Javier Vazquez.

First off... :goodposting: on your team. You mean you are in a league with 15 Five Year olds?

Second, How can you have won this league twice, then ask a message board whether trading one of the best young catchers in the game so you could keep Javier Vazquez, is a good idea??????

C, with a rotation like that, why do you need more pitching?!?

When I 1st read your reply, I said, why do people say things like that? But then, I said, I'll reply anyway. The owners in this league, are not 5 year olds, they are solid owners. McCann is a solid young C, but Vazquez was a top 15 SP in this league. I was looking to bounce a few idea's , maybe trading McCann is a bad idea, but you can't keep everyone, and I thought Soto, might do well to, Thanks for your input, even though your delivery could use some work.

Yeah, ThisGuy, seriously, it's, so, difficult, to, understand, you, when, your, delivery, is, so, poor.

Roster isn't out of the question with a 5 year old keeper league.I would keep McCann and look to deal Vasquez.

Vazquez seems like a great trade candidate to me...

His 2007 was very good, and completely non-representative of his previous 3 seasons, when he was worse than a league average pitcher....

He will only be 31 when the 2008 season starts, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that he's just figured something out, and will maintain that level of performance, but I don't think it is very likely...

I think it is far more likely that he regresses back towards hie previous year's performance...

That said, I'd be surprised if you couldn't get something pretty decent for the 15th best pitcher in your league...

Thanks for everyone's input, I think I could have asked the question a different way, as not to sound strange. I drafted McCann as my back-up C in 2006, and he had a great year. It didn't take long for him to be my starter, his #'s decline in 2007, he put up 420 fantasy point in 2006, and 346 in 2007. He did have some nagging injuries. Some history here, in 2005, my team finished out of the play-offs, at 14-8, I did add Ryan Howard, and Robinson Cano, in 2006, I traded Hafner for Sabathia, and Carl Crawford for Rollins, and had to closers get hot in the play-offs, Saito, and Torres, and won the title, finished, 20-5.

In 2007, my team finished 24-1, I traded for Webb,Zambrano,Oswalt, and Haren, along with Street, and Lidge, I did trade away some good bats, Carlos Pena, Andruw Jones,David Ortiz, Pence,Hamilton,Homer Baily,Andrew Miller, and a few draft picks. I know, I have traded away alot of offence, but, It got the job done. The one loss that I had, during the regular season, and the same team I faced in the finals, was loaded with pitching, so, I felt, I needed to add some arms, so I did. I might have won

with-out making those trades, but that is water under the bridge now. Now the task at hand, is to draft some good bats, maintain my solid pitching, and upgrade my bats, keeping McCann seems to be a good idea, if Soto turns out to be a solid C, then I can trade him for a solid, everyday bat.
