I have seen the first two episodes and its really well written and has a new 19 actress with amazing boobs to fulfill the "awesome Californication Boobs requirement" they have each season

this show is underrated...
I can not believe this show doesnt get more love on these boards. Everyone should stream the first season for free over netflix, its a no brainer.
yep, first and third were great. Problem is second was so weak it lost many people.Actually this show gets bad whenever Mia shows up. Something about her i cant stand, maybe its just that she is a bad actress
Interesting. I just finished Season 2 and was wondering if it jumped the shark. I will watch Season 3 with tempered enthusiasm because Season 1 was really good. The whole show at times is a big ego stroke for Duchovny, which kinda kills me. He has knockouts throwing themselves at him upon first meeting all the time, even before they know who he is. He's really not that good looking of a dude.

Its not about his looks. He went to the school of Damone:
Mike Damone: I mean don't just walk in. You move across the room. And you don't talk to her. You use your face. You use your body. You use everything. That's what I do. I mean I just send out this vibe and I have personally found that women do respond. I mean, something happens.Mark Ratner: Well, naturally something happens. I mean, you put the vibe out to 30 million chicks, something is gonna happen.Mike Damone: That's the idea, Rat. That's the attitude.Mark Ratner: The attitude?Mike Damone: Yeah! The attitude dictates that you don't care whether she comes, stays, lays, or prays. I mean whatever happens, your toes are still tappin'. Now when you got that, then you have the attitude.

Love the show. It's ridiculous most of the time and sometimes just devolves into a constant barrage of "who's Hank going to nail next", but I don't really care.

It's a 30 minute show that gives some great laughs and great boobs in every episode. To ask for alot more would just be greedy.

Personally, Runkle is my favorite character. The show's hilarious, but I wouldn't find it all that funny without him.

Runkle and his self deprecating humor is great. Also will miss "Collini out"

I am about halfway through season 5 of NipTuck and plan on starting Californication or Weeds next, unless Damages Season 3 or Dexter Season 3 shows up.
Weeds was money the first season or two, and Dex season 3 was one of the weakest, IMO. Californication is great, with one clunker season so far. Cant go wrong with any of those 3 though, IMO. Never watched Niptuck or Damages, but my GF is a huge fan of both and watches both religiously.

I like Californication a lot- not iconic, breath-taking stuff- but fun writing (both Runkels are money), g(o)(o)d eye candy, and good characters. Basically Sex in the City for guys.

Did anybody watch Episodes? If the first episode is any indication, that's a complete dud. I assume it will be better when Joey shows up, but those two brits are really horrible actors, and not given much funny to work with either.

Granting that I've never seen Californication or Weeds, I would say that Damages is one of the two or three best shows on TV (at least the first two seasons were). The acting is superb, the season-long plots are engaging, and the way the storyline flows is awesome. Each season begins with the last scene of the season. The first season began with the main character running out of an elevator covered in blood, then said "six months earlier" and began with her getting a job at a law practice. The second season began with a main character shooting a gun at someone, then did the same "six months earlier" thing. Then the season unfolds both from the beginning and from the end. Its kind of hard to explain but it completely works. Outside of the Trinity of Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and Sons of Anarchy, I'd say Damages would be my next favorite....and I haven't even seen the third season.

I really enjoyed the first season of Damages- totally agree about the acting (and great actors, to boot) and I loved the narrative structure. 2nd season seemed like more of the same, but I found the character arc for the lead almost ludicrous and the more of the same seemed almost lazy story-telling to me; I lost interest midway through season 2.

Love this show, even the 2nd season that some people didn't like (although that season's plot arc's did seem to end really abruptly for some reason.) Runkle is histerical and the #### that Hank says sometimes always leaves my jaw on the floor. Just the ultimate fantasy of having no filter, always saying exactly what you think and not caring. Not too mention banging hot women left and right. Lots of great lines too:

"You can't snort a line of coke off a woman’s a** and not wonder about her hopes and dreams, it's not gentlemanly!"

I'm surprised he made it past the 4th season, it got so horrible after The Carver arc played out.

[hijack]I don't get the love for this unauthentic POS.[\hijack]Californication is nowhere near the best show on TV, but still very much worth watching...although I do agree with biggamer3 about Mia. Chick bugs.

You are not the first person to tell me this. I actually thought season two (Eva the transgender) was sort of a bore but really liked season 3 (Carver) and didn't think 4 was that awful (Conner). I did find the "guess what, I'm moving to California too and even though most of the reason you left Miami was because you were codependent on me I know you will immediately accept me and we'll fall in to our old habits!" thing a bit much, but I'm willing to let it go.That said, if Dexter or season 3 of Damages were available, I'd drop Nip Tuck pretty quickly.

Mia is pretty annoying but she's supposed to be.

Karen is the one I can't stand. Hank's supposed to be totally in love with this ice cold #####? Other than the fact that she's tall and hot, I don't see it. I don't think it's a coincidence that season 3 is so good precisely because she's off in New York and barely in a lot of the episodes.

The show needs a bit of Karen, she is the only one Hank can't get whenever he wants and their relationships are usually entertaining without going totally into soap operas territory

Wait. Season 3 is good? I made it through an 1 1/2 episodes and mailed it back. FWIW I loved season 2. Did it get a lot better?

But Abe, Weeds is in a class by itself. Awesome show for the first 3 seasons. I defy anyone to not love Doug. I would definitely make that your next show to get into.

All

"You smell like you just walked out of a fisting contest"
:goodposting: That rivaled her shot at Ari in her first episode of "Entourage" - "This town's not safe for a b***h."I absolutely  Carla Gugino."Californication" is a great show. Duchovny is great in it and I'm happy to see it's been picked up for a fifth season.

The scenes involving either Karen or Rebecca are by far the worst parts of any episode now - especially Karen.

Rob Lowe to play the fictionalized Hank Moody is still genius casting.

Also, the Sasha Bingham girl is hawt.

This show is a complete shell of its former self. There used to be some depth to the show with Hank trying to rebuild relationships with karen and his daughter.

Now this show is entourage and I can get more nudity just looking on the internet. Its a waste of 25 minutes of my life.

I can't believe I've missed the "drama" element of the show (Hank's family relationship melodrama); this season has been pretty cartoony, and even though I'm laughing, it's not as engaging. Looks like the "drama" is going to be coming soon though, based on the preview for next week's show.

I found certain parts of the most recent episode particularly enjoyable. I don't mind this foray from the drama, but I won't be upset if the family drama returns.

watched the last couple episodes and laughed, not as good as it has been but i have enjoyed it. It is pretty over the top cartoony. Made SHAMLESS seem like it could happen in comparison, but still watching....

I finally got around to watching this season and it was a huge disappointment. Among the problems - the big deal made by his wife about him having had sex with a 16 year old. C'mon, after all the #### he's done that's the deal breaker? After developing as a character in season 3 Hank regressed into more of a narcissist than ever, but all the while talking about how much he cared about his wife and daughter. The show is a complete joke now with no redeeming qualities. Also, what's up with the acting by Hank's wife in season 4 - was she just mailing it in?

This is the 1st season Ive watched since the 2nd. I like it ok. Didnt realize the stripper in this weeks episode was Adriana form the Sopranos. Shes lookin pretty rough.

this writing is getting really stale/repetitivesome good nudity in last week's episode with the nanny
Runkle has been carrying the show for a few seasons, imo. It's hard to care about what goes on with Hank and the Moody family anymore. That's not the worst thing though. I love Runkle. Give me him with a healthy dose of Marcy and Stu, and it's a very funny show.Obviously, it's never good when the main story line ceases to be compelling though.

Runkle still killing it. His reaction to Marcy and husband's role playing, and not being able to take it anymore, standing up and throwing the Oscar against the wall..

:lmao:
