I can't access my teams at work because they actually think I should be working instead of doing team maintenance. Is there a way to figure out what the IP adress is when you have a web page open? I want to be on my teams hompage at home, then figure out the IP address, then try it at work. Will this even work for me or are most IT guys savvy enough to block this route too? Does any one have any suggestions to find backdoors into fantasy websites? Sometimes you just have to make waiver wire moves during work hours. Thank God footballguys isn't blocked!

Sorry if this is the wrong board, feel free to move it.

Some would say download "TOR" as it hides your trail, but I havent tested it myself..

So your work blocked the domain/IP of your league's website? Chances are they've blocked other IP's/ports but you can try something like Logmein.

open the command window (start menu -> run -> type in 'cmd')

type in

Code:
ping www.google.com
should give you an ip address for www.google.com, good luck

There's too many variables that you'd need to fill in to get a solid answer to your question. Judging by your questions I'm going to assume you have no idea whether your behind a firewall, using a proxy server, or both...and those are the very vague questions. Most decent proxy servers have blocked catagories like "Fantasy/Gambling" that are updated regularly to prohibit web surfing to those sites.

There are proxy sites out there that you can surf anything through but I wouldn't be gung ho about putting personal information into webpages using those types of services. You could also configure your home desktop to accept remote control, remote into your home PC, and surf the web from there. Your work would only see the remote traffic and won't be able to know what you are doing from your home PC. More than likely though you are behind a firewall and those ports are blocked.

If we are talking about a military network then scratch everything I said above...you're just screwed. Sidewinder FW's + BlueCoat Proxies = FuhgetAboutIt

Try a public anonymizer/proxy site, like w00tage.com, but as mentioned, be careful about the info you send. Chances are that will eventually get blocked as well. Another workaround is to set up your own proxy server at home, then set up a port-forwarded SSH connection so they can't see the traffic. The IT people will likely eventually block your home IP address, too. A smart phone with a browser might be your best bet.

If they don't allow pings, try 'nslookup <domain>' in the command prompt window.

In windows, nslookup will translate domain names (ie: google.com) to IP addresses and vice versa.

Type nslookup at a command prompt. Then type the domain name of your FF league site.

Or if you're allergic to the command prompt, a whois website will also give you the IP. Try this one:

http://cqcounter.com/whois/

More than likely the site is blocked by your workplace at the IP level, so this wouldn't help. Worth a try though.

Another alternative is to use a proxy server, like this one:

http://www.hidemyass.com/

Hide IP platinum may work for you. We must help this guy out. We must defeat the lamers that are preventing FF in the workplace.

yepIronic, seeing as how the military is so good about wasting time (and this site wasn't blocked there either, I don't think). I seem to recall they let NFL.com through though.
