I have crappy hearing, really crappy. When I watch TV, I have to watch at a volume level that bugs everyone else and I still miss some words. I have hearing aids but hate them and for TV watching they don't seem to make much difference anyways. What they do have though is a receiver of sorts that will pick up a Bluetooth signal from my phone and broadcast the audio from it to my hearing aids so I can talk on the phone while driving. I was thinking of this feature and I was hoping to find something that would do the same for my TV. I looked on Best Buy, Walmart, etc. but nothing for TVs, just computers. Can't use one that uses the audio jack, because that mutes the TV when something gets plugged into it. What I need is one that uses the USB or HDMI ports.

Any suggestions?
TIA

Two suggestions, based on life with a wife with hearing problems:

1. The Hopper from Dish Network has Bluetooth built in. If you're willing to change providers, that may be the way to go.

2. There are headphone/transmitter sets that will plug into the audio out jacks of your receiver/cable box without muting the TV. We have one that we got at Best Buy and one that we got at Radio Shack. When my wife is tired of wearing her hearing aid, she pulls it and slips on the headphones.

ETA: If you do decide to go the Dish Network path, let me know--I'd be happy to send you a "referral" that will get you $50 off (and, yes, it gets me $50 off, too).
