Calvin Johnson 48th ranked WR week 13 (1 Viewer)

I benched him because of FBG's ranking today. I will now miss the playoffs as a result. I'd be interested in hearing from a staff member on this.
  :loco: I guess the previous 12 weeks had nothing to do with you missing the playoffs?

Megatron = Megabomb

Is there a more overrated receiver? Its been that way ever since he was drafted. He's never going to live up to the hype.

lol at people blaming fbgs for this. i sat calvin in favor of MSW and it kept me from making the playoffs, but it was MY decision. before i even looked at fbgs projections i did my usually research and MSW appeared to be the clear choice.

it happens.....

I rank my players first THEN I look at the FBG's ranking if there is a conflict I ask myself "WHY" or "WHAT" then I make my own sound decision which is why I started CJ and Big Ben. Can't be lazy in fantasy football, you must do your own homework and listen to your gut.

 Why would you post this after this week?
I'm sensing a serious dose of sarcasm....As far as paid services and what not, you get what you deserve if you blindly make decisions based on someone elses opinion. As educated as that opinion may or may not be. No offense to the FBG guys or any other pay FF service, Im sure they work really hard, but this is football. It's a sport. Outcome of sporting events are usually unpredictable, or as predictable by you and me as anyone working at FBG. And in the year 2009, soon to be 2010, there is an absurd amount of information available through multiple channels, the biggest being the internet. There isn't a whole lot the FBG guys are seeing out there that you're not aware of via schefler and the rest of the lunatics at NFL, ESPN, Fox Sports etcetcetc...I recall earlier in teh season they had Andre Johnson ranked super low because of Cinci's secondary, and he produced fairly well that week, though not like Megatron this week...I have megatron, and all I had to hear was he's playing and he was in. Hell I rolled him out on Thanksgiving when he barely had a leg to stand on...Making your decisions exclusively on a paid service defeats the purpose of playing FF...

Well, here we are at Week 14. Those of us with Calvin I'm sure are rolling with him again. Even if you didn't start him last week, many will have to with the various injuries that are out there, you're almost backed into it even if you don't like the idea of starting Johnson.

Johnson has been a tough one to predict. He's really the type of guy you just have to start as long as you feel like he's healthy.

Going into this week, it seems as if he's healthy, so it's tough to sit him unless you're in a 2 start WR league with no flex and you're stacked at WR. If that's the case for you, know that you are most definately in the minority this week.

With all that said and with Calvin in 2 of my starting lineups this week, I don't like him as much as last week. Primarily because I don't like Caulpepper as much as I like Stafford. Stafford makes a lot of rookie mistakes, but he's a playmaker with his arm. I liked even in the preseason the rapport I was seeing with Johnson and Stafford and something I believe will only be better next year.

Even last year, I liked Orlovsky to Calvin Johnson much more than I liked Caulpepper to Johnson. I know at the end of last week's game, Caulpepper just threw the ball up at the end of the game and Johnson caught it for like 45 yards but that's about what it's going to take for Johnson to have a big week with Caulpepper throwing the ball. That Caulpepper to Moss type of passing hasn't happened here in Detroit, not even with the same guy who was calling plays for the Vikings back then calling them now for Detroit.

Johnson is in my lineup X's 2 but I felt better about the start last week when he was NO. 48 because of what I've seen from Caulpepper to Johnson and I am even more worried that Cpepper is only one hammy pull away and we get Drew Stanton at the helm and let me tell you, we DO NOT want him leading the QB charge against the Ravens.

Just my .02 this week, I wouldn't have him ranked in my top 8. I hope the heck I'm wrong. Kudos for not taking the middle of the pack road, apprently you guys like him a lot this week.

yeah, i need this win to get into the playoffs that start in week 15. im wrestling with the idea that play your stud(ish) WRs,

i have

calvin

mechem

desean

and need 2. i think i may be going with calvin and desean. it will hurt to watch either one of those guys blow up on bench when meachem crashes back to earth, well then again maybe meachem will keep it up. either way calvin on thanksgiving scored even on a hobbled knee. i think CPep can get it done enough, especially if ed reed is out . anyone know reed's status?

I would be just fine with a 1 catch day going for 70 yards and a TD even if it comes with three minutes left in the game with Detroit trailing by 30.

12-15 fantasy points would work :goodposting:

:popcorn:This is the exact reason why it is a risky proposition to bench a player of CJs caliber (i.e. a "stud"), a player like him has a far greater possibility of breaking off one play that turns a stinker into a solid week (witness Randy Moss last week). There aren't many players of this caliber but when you have one you need to start them.

Culpepper is absolutely horrible. He's cost Calvin Johnson at least 2 Td's this game with poor thrown balls. This week isn't on Calvin, Culpepper is pathetic.

Megatron absolutely killed me this year. Won't live up to his potential until he's on a different team.
He may have killed you this year but he had a great year last year and will again in the future. Stafford will be a fine QB, they just need to get some guys to protect him better.Don't give up on Johnson in the future because of this year.

 Stafford ----> Megatron will be one heck of a combo going forward.

I saw little this year that convinced me this will be true.

:lmao:Seriously?Stafford and Megatron have been hurt thru the entire season this year. One of the other has been banged up every single game after, what, the 2nd game of the season?Oh yeah, and Stafford was a rookie this season? :pickle:
