Calvin Johnson's Value Going Forward (1 Viewer)

Based on what you've seen so far, do you like his PPR outlook going forward, assuming his back heals in time for week 7?

Week 1: 4/70/1

Week 2: 4/61/1

Week 3: 2/58/0 (left game early with a back injury on an amazing catch where he basically had no regard for his body and earned every yard of that catch)

Week 4: DNP

Week 5: 1/3/0 DNF game

Week 6: Bye

Weeks 7-17: ???

In a PPR leauge I think he can provide good WR2 numbers or at worst solid flex numbers if healthy. Even with Roy/Furrey/McDonald around I think there should be enough balls to go around in the Martz offense. If Kitna went down I think his value drops considerably. As long as Detroit can't or won't run the ball and can't stop the run or pass I think the Washington game should be an anomaly and the Detroit passing game should be productive. Thoughts?

At the very worst WR3 #'s. I wouldn't be shocked to see WR1 #'s the last 1/4 of the season. He'll only be seeing more and more snaps and the leash will come off.

Apparently the FBG's think he has one heck of a second half coming up as his value in the 250 going forward is holding steady. I'm actually kind of amazed at that since he is not even starting WHEN HEALTHY. I see him as a WR3 and nothing more. On a team running 4 WR's plus now getting their main RB back - I don't like the chances for a guy that isn't even on the field for some of the plays.

Hes a solid WR2 from here on out. His last 3 poor weeks can all be explained by injury.
In my PPR league, 4 catches per week in an offense where the QB throws 35+ times per game is not that impressive. I really hope that you are correct because I have CJ on 2 teams but I absolutely can not put him in the same class as B. Edwards, Coles, S. Moss, etc.. IMHO - they are WR2's.

In a non PPR league

Do you guys like him more than Brandon Marshall going forward?
Not me. I think Marshall is going to finish in the top 15 this season. And no - I wasn't able to grab him. :lmao:
The Brandon Marshall comparison is interesting. I was actually going to mention him in my OP. These are two guys I think could have monster 2nd halfs. I do give Marshall the slight edge as he has much less competition for targets. Talent wise these two young bucks have plenty so it's just a matter of them getting the steady looks, IMO.

Very hard to judge Calvin Johnson by what we've seen so far. His PT has been limited by inexperience and now a back injury. The coaching staff in DET is feeling the heat to get its playmakers on the field (KJ/CJ). I'd expect him to be a solid WR2 with some huge games here and there.

if Calvin doesn't start soon, being on the field for the majority of the snaps, then IMO he will be a huge disappointment this year. I'm still thrilled to own him in 6 dynasty leagues, and think he will explode in the 2nd half half of the season.

There is a lot of tension here in Detroit about the fact that Calvin is not starting. Everything was rosy when the Lions were winning but everybody is starting to get on the coaching staff about involving Johnson more. I would expect (hope) after the bye week that he will start to be involved more than he is. I understand that the Matz offense is complicated but Calvin needs to be involved more in this offense.
