Calvin may be limited to 3rd downs only this week (1 Viewer)

Devil's Advocate
Pro Football Weekly reports Calvin Johnson (questionable, knee) may be limited to third-down situations if he's active for Week 9 at Jacksonville.Per PFW's Eric Edholm, Johnson is a true game-time decision, and it sounds like his snaps may be limited if he goes. Of course, the Lions could increase Megatron's role at any given moment if his adrenaline is kicking early in the game and he's racking up catches against a Jacksonville secondary that will be minus at least two starting defensive backs, and possibly three. Keep an eye on updates Sunday morning. Johnson should still be penciled into fantasy lineups.
I'm already rolling with Young. Might have to start Broyles too. :excited:

I wouldn't be surprised if he misses. Not practicing at all during the week is always a bad sign and they can probably beat Jacksonville without him anyways.

I think the chances he misses are better than 50% and don't be surprised if a knee scope is coming soon.

This guy is killing me... I'm going to put Rice in which means CJ will play and score 2 TDs after doing **** for me the last 3 weeks. <end rant>

ESPN's Chris Mortensen on Calvin Johnson (knee): "League sources say he is determined to play & is expected to start" against the Jaguars.

"@Dave Birkett

Haven't seen Calvin out for workouts yet, but did see his grandparents at hotel. They didn't come to watch him sit, right?"

Calvin's knee is wrapped pretty good. We're not talking just a sleeve here.

Dave Birkett @davebirkett

He is doing ladder drills without any trainer supervision. Normal get-loose stuff with other players

He stated earlier in the week he was playing cause "Those guys need me out there" he is a captain of the team. He didn't say he would be ready for Sunday but said he would be out there to help his team. Being on the field alone would help Young and the rest of the receivers single coverage.

Thing im fearing is him being on the field as a decoy (Ie. like Saints used Graham a few weeks back against SD)

Never thought I would be seriously considering benching Calvin for Cobb at the beginning of the season.

I'm 200 feet up in a press box, but aside from the big wrap on his knee, Calvin doesn't seem off in any way.

Dave Birkett @davebirkett

He's smiling, not limping, no trainers around. Of course, he's not running full speed across the middle...

Jason La Canfora reports on our show that Calvin Johnson is going to play a "fairly active role."

And again on CJ, expectation all week has been that he'll play, question's just how/if he's limited

Calvin Johnson has been warming up and seems to be moving around well, though his left knee is wrapped. ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that the team expects Johnson to play. We'll keep you updated.

Allot of Decoy talk from local Lions pregame show. Former Lions WR Herman Moore even talked about a game he played in where he was questionable and was able to help his team cause he played and served as a decoy when he wasnt really in the gameplan

Tough to say anything about how Calvin looked after drills. From high up, didn't appear to be really pushing things

Thing you have to take in consideration is what has made Clavin so great the last three or so years he could out jump one or two guys for a ball. He has a knee injury which is not allowing him to do it like in seasons past.

I think you have to start him. My other option is Gordon, but I think I'm keeping Calvin in. Hard to know his effectiveness beforehand.

Back and forth...but cant trust it...so Lance Moore it is.

Congrats to those that start megatron...he is now bound to go off.

Playing him... last time he was a "must sit" was a couple seasons back, on the road, against NYG, banged up, lousy QB... and he BLEW UP (blew up my bench).

Starting him with confidence (over Denaryus Moore).
