If I had to choose one, Maybin by default, because I'm beginning to think Young's never going to get it, but to be honest neither one of them are on my radar at their going rate.
Complicated answer. I actually think Young is more likely to have the better season in '09, but Maybin probably has the higher ceiling (even this year). Going forward, I'd opt for Maybin. The speed prospects alone are worth the gamble, and I think he will hit for power at some point.
The problem for Young is that his development has been snail-like. Yes, he's still pretty much a kid, but I don't think we've seen anything from him yet that makes us think he's going to be a stud. He's also embroiled in a battle for playing time. Of course this depends on Kubel staying healthy (which is asinine) and Gomez actually hitting the ball, but otherwise he's probably teetering on being a sub right now. Maybin has no such issues. He'll play every day.
