I have some league mates that are having a meltdown about the scoring on the play. I want to provide an example of this happening to show it is the way that it's always been scored.
Just last week, RGIII fumbled at Baltimore's 15 yard line an Josh Morgan recovered it and scored for the Redskins. Think that was counted as a rushing TD.

Every league is different though although this would be a great example like the OP requested. Our league did not count it as a rushing TD for Morgan, but as a return TD for Morgan, for which offensive skill players get 0 points.
