I thought they were back. I figured this was a gimme game. I was telling people all week that the Saints were getting good at the right time and might be scary in the playoffs. I didn't see a minute of this game.

WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED??

Actually the Rams had Jackson and Bulger back. When you get Jackson, Holt, Bruce, and Bulger on the field together the Rams can score. There were a number of bad turnovers by the Saints. They aren't good enough to win when they turn the ball over.

Saints had a rough start, and Payton started to panic. Completely abandoned the run and went for a ridiculous 4th down. Throw in the typical abuse of Jason David and no stops on 3rd down, and the Saints got killed.

1. Pro-Bowl LT for the Saints went down with injury in the 1st quarter.

2. Bulger and Jackson are back from injury

3. Ran out of time during a comeback, once they finally adjusted. WAAAAAYYY too late.

The Bucs had no problem containing the Rams with a healthy SJ and Bulger.
Bulger played that game but was not healthy. He had only recently broken his ribs and Linehan finally sat him for 2 games 2 weeks later.

the Browns barely squeaked by STL with Bulger and SJAX. SJAX went down before halftime. If he plays the whole game they win no problem.

Nothing to be ashamed of.
They lost at home to a winless team...plenty to be ashamed of.Everyone had chalked this a win for the hot Saints. This not only puts them a game back of TB, but kills alot of momentum.Huge loss.

Not a Saints fan, but I do like Brees, Bush, and Colston as any NFL fan would. However, I'd be more inclined to say this is more of a wake up call than a momentum loss. They will realize that they can't take anyone for granted.

They started 0-4. How many wake up calls do you need? They are also still chasing a team in their division that beat them by 3 TDs. And they're taking wins for granted?

The Saints D was without two of their best DL, too. Charles Grant and Brian Young were out. Rams offense got healthy and give credit to HC Scott Linehan for getting the most out of the bye week.

using the line injuries as an excuse for the saints losing is nonsensical. The Rams have had more line injuries than just about any team this year. They are playing without their best line players on both sides of the ball. Sure the Saints were hurting but the Rams have been hurting worse at the same positions the whole year.

The Saint lost because their defense was(is) awful, Brees had a bad first half, and the coach let his arrogance get the better of him in deciding to go for it on 4th down in a very risky situation.

down 20-7 with eight and change left in the third, the saints went for it on 4th and 1 in their own territory (just shy of the 50). Bush got stuffed and the rams scored a TD a few plays later.

Thanks. I see how that might have changed things around. Still, only 1 yrd... but maybe Bush isn't the best guy for that situation. In college, they always relied on Lendale for the tough yard or two...

honestly, they overachieved last season, and thought they were going to roll that into this season, and they've been getting the snot knocked out of them by everyone and anyone..Sean Payton sucks as a HC, and he's not much better as an OC..but,they were thinking this was a gimme game, for sure..

Haslett effectively mixed up blitz after the blitz and got a lot of pressure on Brees, especially in the first half. Losing J. Brown hurt, but the line didn't look good before his injury. Bush must have been sore coming into the game because he wasn't the center of the offense as usual.

The defense was typical.

When you're missing parts of your O-line and half your D-line, bad things happen.
Are you talking about the Rams or the Saints? The Saints got smacked by a winless team just like they did when they were winless to my Hawks. What goes around comes around. However, and I didn't watch the game closely (had it on the small TV), they showed late in the game that they had the powerful O. They just got hammered by some possible future HoFers early in the game and didn't have enough time to come back. The Saints didn't help themselves out but they are still in the thick of the NFCS, especially with a CAR loss and that teams sorry future. PS CAR: throw the GD ball to Smith, thank you

Even in the national championship game! I would've used the big ol' FB from ASU. Didn't see the play, did they at least have a FB in there or was it a Holmgren call?

Anybody blaming Bush for not converting that 4&1 obviously didn't see the play.
