Can we Declare this "PC" Experiment to be...over? (1 Viewer)

Our next Secretary of Defense?

James "Mad Dog" Matthis

Here are a few of his "lesser" PC quotes.

  1. You are part of the world’s most feared and trusted force. Engage your brain before you engage your weapon.”
  2. “There are hunters and there are victims. By your discipline, cunning, obedience and alertness, you will decide if you are a hunter or a victim.”
  3. “I don’t lose any sleep at night over the potential for failure. I cannot even spell the word.”
  4. “The first time you blow someone away is not an insignificant event. That said, there are some #######s in the world that just need to be shot.”
  5. “I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery. But I’m pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you #### with me, I’ll kill you all.”
  6. “Find the enemy that wants to end this experiment (in American democracy) and kill every one of them until they’re so sick of the killing that they leave us and our freedoms intact.”
  7. “Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.”
  8. “The most important six inches on the battlefield is between your ears.”
  9. “No war is over until the enemy says it’s over. We may think it over, we may declare it over, but in fact, the enemy gets a vote.”
  10. “There is nothing better than getting shot at and missed. It’s really great.”
  11. “Demonstrate to the world there is ‘No Better Friend, No Worse Enemy’ than a U.S. Marine.”

Nothing wrong with any of that.

If he ends up bring 6th in line for POTUS, things might just work out.

No idea at all about his politics.  Don't know anything about him.

Can't really quibble with the quotes you listed.

This thread makes zero sense with General Mattis (spelling his name right is nice) as the reference point.

Way to fail at the internet.

I'm no military guy, but that sure sounds like stuff I'd want to be said to our actual military guys.

Being politically correct means not saying something stupid because it might upset people.

You thought people might get upset about those quotes so you deliberately said them to get a rise out of them, but it failed.

In other words, you deliberately said something stupid to upset people. So i guess in that sense, yeah, the pc experiment is over.

But I hope thus new experiment ends soon, because being a #### doesn't make you right, or smart, or brave, or brash, or successful.  It's just being a ####.

Running a civilian department with an annual budget of a half a trillion dollars requires more tact than commanding a division of Marines.

As does being responsible for pretty much everything happening in the Middle East.

There haven't been many Secretaries of Defense who were previously high ranking military officers.  George Marshall is the most notable and I believe the only former general.   Robert McNamara was a Lt. Colonel.  Most of the others were low ranking officers who spent more time in civilian life.

True.  For a variety of reasons.  But he'd still be a good SECDEF.
