Can you guess Sirius XMs Lithiums (grunge/alt station) top song of the 90s on their Mem day countdown. Elbowrm got it. Entire list posted (1 Viewer)

I guess my 5 would be:

  1. Smells Like Teen Spirit
  2. Dead and Bloated
  3. Alive
  4. Black Hole Sun
  5. Hunger Strike
Grunge really gets ripped by people both older and younger in my office (I'm almost 44).  I really loved it.
If I'm going stp, I would have said plush or creep.

It's one of my favorites too...no way to justify a #2 ranking though
It's how trendy music nerds justify their existence.  If they pick Smells Like teen Spirit we all think "well duh, that's easy."  But instead these nerds get to pretend they are extra artistic and have magic powers, to justify their existence, and pull this turd out of the dirt.

It's fine.  Of course it's Pickles' favorite.  But really, it's just fine.

In an alternate universe where song length didn't restrict airplay opportunity, it would be Hummer by Smashing Pumpkins.  But alas

also I get that they have to space out the Pearl Jam Nirvana Pumpkins etc but 311 Down over Black by Pearl Jam - come on

I'm not sure that's it. They could just say what dal_boys_fan said in our music draft. He said something to the effect of, "Hey, I'm not moving the earth, but this clearly belongs on our grunge playlist." That's it. Easy. What could be more number one in all facts than "Smells...?" I guess you could argue Alive, but that would be a great jumping off point for music nerds.

Everlong? Well, that's great and all, but...really?

eta* Also, Overlong is hardly a music nerd pick. That's a radio staple.

Gin Blossms?  Live?  And I like REM but for ####s sake they don't belong anywhere near this list, definitely not the late crappy R.E.M. Z100 songs.  Strange list.

I like No Rain also.  And I also really like DMB's first two albums.
Blind Melon has three fantastic albums.  One of the more underrated bands of the 90s IMO.

I love that Harvey dangers Flagpole sitta made the list.  Great track from a one hit wonder.  Would have liked to have seen Stars by Hum on there too.

That's a, uh, pretty bad decade (other than the 3-4 Pearl Jam songs and the Nirvana songs).  I think there were a lot better songs than this being produced.

To this day I'm pretty sure that Sublime is the worst band I've ever heard.
Say it aint so. I think you are one of those guys who knew about them being from California and then thought you wouldnt like them to go against the grain

I think they were brilliant. That 40 oz to freedom album is a classic and the Robbin the hood follow up was great as well but now as good. Sure, their self titled blew up but it was a great album as well. One of the best docs I have ever seen is their Stories, Tales and Lies Doc

So for some reason, I decided to listen to the countdown again on my way home from the beach. It is a really bad list. Not sure why people have to over think things

90s alt/grunge

Oh, it's shuke.
Yea, I have no clue what's going on.  I'll admit I missed that part and thought this was just rock.

Sublime/Live/Bush are "alt/grunge"?
