Rudi is due $3.2M this year if he's with Cincy or traded elsewhere. How much (if any) of his salary would Cincy be stuck with if they just cut/waived him? Is there a roster deadline after which it would be better or worse for them to release him?

A little tough to say without seeing/knowing the structure of the contract.Essentially, they would save themselves from his remaining base salary(s), and would eat any remaining bonus money. IIRC, this is his last year under contract, so they would eat the remaining bonus money this year that was spread through the years of the contract. If, by chance, there are remaining years, they could split the remaining bonus money towards the cap over this year and next since it is past June 1st, no matter how many years are left.If he's on the opening day roster, Johnson's entire $3.2 million would be guaranteed this year and apply towards the cap, no matter if they cut him later or not. No other dates apply at this point in time.I hope that helps.
