CAR D owners, step inside (1 Viewer)

Do we trust them next week against the 49ers? I know they have a tough stretch coming up, but they've been playing so well lately, it's hard to not give them the benefit of the doubt.
So just what are you CAR D owners doing after a couple days of mulling this over? Starting @ SF? Or benching? Releasing?
Likely releasing the Panthers defense to open up a roster spot for Andre Brown. Going with Tennessee for this week and maybe I'll get the Panther defense back again after their SF and NE games.

benching them and playing Texans @ Arizona. probably will play Texans next week vs Oakland and home vs Jaguars in week 12 before going back to Panthers vs TB in week 13. Texans get Jags in week 14, Panthers get Jets in week 15 and I will begin looking for my championship week defense soon

Benched them and picked up the Giants to start who are at home to Oakland. After this week, I'll pick up the Texans to pair with Carolina if they have a decent performance this week against Arizona

Carolina has a legit top-5 Defense in the NFL. I just can't pull the trigger on another Defense that stinks in real life like the Giants or Raiders, based on matchup.

Looks like I'll be dropping them for the Arizona D. Carolina has given me a good run up until this point, but their matchups get much tougher from here. They really only have 3 good matchups the ROS: Tampa, Miami, and NYJ. The 49ers, Pats, and Saints twice scare me, especially since the Saints are matchups in Weeks 14 and 16.

I'm starting Carolina against SF. SF is dead last in the league in passing, the place where Carolina is most vulnerable. While SF's offense may be the #1 rushing offense Carolina is the #2 rushing defense. It should be an interesting game!

Agreed. Not to mention, their offense does a pretty good job of protecting the football. A lot of the matchup DSTs have turnover-prone offenses that leave them trying to defend a short field.

But what about next week's matchup with NE? I'm not as worried about the 49ers matchup as I am with the Pats next week.

Yeah, I'm still debating carrying 2 DSTs for the next 2 weeks (and NO in 14). Zona and Buffalo are both good pairings. But it's hard to trust either.

I've been alternating CAR & NO all season with great success but weeks 14 & 16 will be a tough choice when they play each other. I'm still thinking NO is the play there since CAR is vulnerable to the pass but we'll see.

Arizona is out there in mine and so is NYJ. I think the Jets have a really nice schedule the rest of the way, but Carolina has just been so good to me. I'd rather not carry 2 DEFs if I don't have to.

I've been reading your posts in this thread and I think we are in the same spot. My league has a shallow bench so I'd rather not keep two defenses. I'm prepared to let Carolina go and risk losing them as there is no way I'd play then vs. NE in week 11 and would really rather not play them this week.

Ok, there was a lot of "the sky is falling" type analysis about the Carolina D facing SF this week. Yet Carolina did very well on the road vs. a team that usually doesn't provide D's too many points.

So are we getting bold enough to use the Panther D vs. NE next week? I admit I got nervous and benched them for HOU and was planning on using HOU vs. JAX next week, but now I'm not so sure.

I benched them for the Giants this week, which actually worked out even better for me, but it's great to see that they looked so strong in this game. Tempted to play them against everyone apart from NO

If you're willing to roll with 2 defenses, take a look at the Jets. In the games where Carolina plays the Patriots and the Saints twice, the Jets play the Bills, Raiders, and Browns.

Definitely riding them next week vs NE. Agree that @NO in Week 14 is the toughest matchup, but let's just say that, especially after today, sticking with them as my every-week D is still very much under consideration. Put it this way: I'm glad I have another couple weeks to think about it.

I'm holding Car and Dallas. Dallas on bye almost forces my hand. Going to see what some of the waiver matchups look like, but Carolina's DST is approaching auto start right now. If I'm thinking right, the Pats have given up a decent # of sacks of late--could be the key ther.

I benched them for Buf this week, which was ok but would have been better off starting Car. I am leaning towards starting Buf again next week because NE coming off a bye week scares me.

OK, just made a trade to free up a roster spot (well, technically, his name is Jerome Simpson, but for our purposes his name is Empty Roster Spot). Now I can grab a backup D for Weeks 14/16. Still not totally sure I won't run with Carolina vs NO, but I figure I can reserve someone now and then decide in a few weeks.

Jets are available, but I'm thinking of STL. Obviously, the Colts game skews the numbers a bit, but they're the No. 7 D so far, Top 5 in sacks, and have come on stronger in recent weeks. Plus, their 14/16 schedule is @ARI/TB. Jets also have good match-ups (Oak/Cle), but they've been more inconsistent.

Anyone else feeling a little edgy about facing Tom brady this week? I picked up Hou. to use for the Saints matchup and thinking about using them this week probably facing 1st time starter Matt Mcgroin. Could be juicy.

I'm going with the Panthers, but not feeling confident. In fact, I'm feeling very shaky. However, I went with TEN last week over CAR and got burnt. Now I'm feeling like I have to stick with CAR even in the face of a bit so great matchup. Plus, with how TEN did last night, when I was thinking of going with them initially, I'm feeling kind of lucky!

I'm starting Panthers this week but if I had a bigger bench I'd probably look elsewhere. I just can't drop them and won't drop a guy like vereen or shorts.

Ok, Carolina held SF to just nine points on the road and as of halftime vs. the Pats have only given up three, even though NE is as complete on offense as they've been all year. Unless CAR crumbles in the 2nd half, it's time to put them on the same tier with the KC and SEA defenses.

I'd say they're a comfortable start versus anybody right now no matter what happens in the 2nd half here. The pass rush guarantees a few point every week as a floor.

I just wish Ginn would show some spark...
