Cards-Nats NLDS (1 Viewer)

I realize it's probably a forgone conclusion that the Cards will exploit the new 2nd WC slot, along the stupid home-field advantage starting on the the road thing and win this series (along with the next 2), but it seemed like a thread is still approiate.

####### Cardinals. Gio's currently walking the entire roster.

So the Cards not only get to start at home, but both games are scheduled during this particular time when shadows affect the game in their park. Cool.

Wow. Mattheus just kept the Nats in this game.

Bases loaded. No outs.

Enter Mattheus.

2 pitches.

2 ground balls.

3 outs.

Back to the dugout fellas.

This accu-pitch thing has been way off on balls and strikes with this ump for about three innings

This didn't feel like a win but I'll take it.

MLB should be ashamed of this home scheduling. I'm sure it will only be a footnote though.

Seems like as good a win as any. Gio settled in great after a rough 2nd. Mattheus and IF got out of a massive jam, and you got a timely pinch hit (after a bizarre, but great bunt). Seems like a textbook playoff win.

another not-to-be-overlooked game saver:werth's 6th inning over-the-wall catch.it's 4-1 cards withut that
:goodposting: Huge play. Gio was un-hittable (either with good pitching or because he was walking guys), the bullpen was in shutdown mode, and the defense was excellent. The batting failed a couple times with runners in scoring position, but Moore came through in the clutch.

I was holding a beer in my hand at that moment. A large of it ended up on the top of my head after I raised my hand in excitement. What was with Stockton calling some routine grounder to 2b the next half inning the defensive play of the game?

Happy to see the Nationals win because I hate the Cards. I missed it but can someone explain to me why the wildcard team opens at home?

Game 3 set for 1pm. So much for MLB claiming they needed to see if the other series were going to game 4 before scheduling it.

They added the extra game at the last minute before the regular season began, which meant the playoff schedule was already set. In order to get the wild card game in there but keep the World Series from going beyond November 1st, they had to eliminate a travel day between games 4 and 5 of this round. Yes, it's stupid.

Love Bryce Harper getting thrown out at third. And that was with Holliday throwing a 7-hopper to... shortstop! From the grass in left. Ball literally bounced 7 times. WTF? Yet Bryce was still out by a mile. :lmao:

How many Ks is that now for Bryce?

Cards postponed the inevitable - and I am a Cards fan. No way we stack up against that rotation and that offense. Nats-Reds should be a great matchup - and I like either of their chances against the Junior Circuit..

I don't know about that. I think Carpenter is the big X factor here. If he's remotely close to his 200-2011 self, the Cards have a pretty significant advantage over the last three games starting pitcher-wise. Anyone that's even a pale imitation of 2009-2011 Carpenter > Edwin Jackson, and Lohse > Ross Detwiler. Nats might have a slight advantage in the potential Gio/Wainwright matchup in Game 5, but they have to get there first, and Wainwright looked exceptional on Sunday.

Don't mess with my reverse jinx.

Two world titles in six years, by two teams that won an average of 86.5 games. Last September's Braves collapse. Two series wins from behind in the 2011 postseason. Game 6 of the World Series. Getting the second wild card spot in the first year of the dual wild cards. The infield fly in the wild card game. Drawing the Strasburg-less Nats in the division series. I don't think they need any more help, they've clearly got some serious mojo working for them already.

I can't even listen online? I go to 106.7's site and click Listen Live and it's just Junkies replays? Am I doing something wrong or does MLB block internet radio broadcasts of games?

Yeah I mean ESPN 980 is talking about they are covering the game on the radio and yet I get some ESPN crap on the internet listen live.

MLB has the rights to it. I've got the MLB radio app on my phone, but it's not working for me today for some reason. :kicksrock:

It's very early in game 3 and I'm only following this game online, but I'm starting to get worried.
