Cards-Nats NLDS (1 Viewer)

Sorry guys. I tried. It worked for Dr. Detroit. It's likely he's just a better man than me, but I'm pretty sure you just can't reverse jinx the ####### Cardinals.

Yeah safe to say that Bryce Harper is going to make a statement in this game. What a shot :excited:
What's his "statement" exactly? That he's no longer 2 for 19 and getting thrown out?
One more strikeout for good measure. :bye: On three pitches...last one head-high. Sorry but... :lmao:
He's going to be a good one.
I wanted to hate him, but I can't. He's going to be really good.Maybe he'll have a better series next year, even though he still won't legally be able to drink champagne if they win a 2013 NLDS.

Yeah that last Harper at bat was quite embarrassing. You can tell he was trying to hit a homer and nothing else mattered. Plus it looked like he tried to talk #### to the pitcher at the end.

He had a little sack grab for somebody there

I feel horrible for Nats fans, that is awful.

Largest comeback in an elimination game in MLB history. Still an overwhelming success and this team will be back, but that ending really stings. Also EJAX is one of the worst clutch performers in recent memory, I hate him.

Waino was surprisingly unclutch as well. But back to EJax, he was turrible in the postseason for the Cards last year and I don't think anyone in STL shed a tear when he left. Granted, Cards fans knew he was just a rental, but he's infuriating in clutch situations. He's one of those guys that a team like the Pirates or Royals overpay for. Yeah, he'll get you some good innings, but if you ever make it to the promised land that is the playoffs, he'll break your heart.I feel bad for the Nats fans themselves. I was hoping one of Baltimore or Washington would make it to the next round. That region has been stung by bad baseball for far too long.

I do feel bad for Nats fans, that was as bad as it gets. Not trying to rub anything in here, I actually wanted them to win (aside from the Bryce ABs or whatever). I just haven't hated a player this much since Bonds. It can be kind of fun, the villain thing, or whatever you want to call it.

He's a complete doosh. His youth doesn't change that, for me.

My sympathies to Nats fans here .... heck of a team you have - that at bat by Werth last night was one for the ages.

But the Cards had a lot of them tonight. What a team - Beltran turns out to be the steal of the century. After all that has happened this season - this is what playing with house money looks like.

Hopefully Waino can recover - he was a warrior coming off injury this season and I hope his next start makes up for this. Honestly with Gonzalez on the mound against him I knew it was an uphill battle - who knew it would be a record uphill battle.

I've watched nearly every game this playoff and WOW - this has been some great baseball - Detwiller yesterday vs Lohse, that Werth at bat, Posey with the GS and the Giants comeback on the road, Ibanez. Jays catch, Coco Crisp catch, Sabbathia, Hughes, Saunders, Kuroda, some amazing at-bats and the late inning comebacks - not sure I ever remember such pressure packed deliveries, I have such a hard time getting into the pace of the game during the regular season - but once we get here in the playoffs - like a special alignment of the stars or a lunar eclipse - the addition of pressure to the pace of the game makes this a beautiful game to watch.

He's 19. Lighten up.

:lmao: He's a D-Bag, okay? He'll get better/great at baseball, duh, but I really doubt he outgrows the kook factor, it's ingrained. He'll learn how to maybe not come off as a total d-bag -- they can coach that too -- but underneath it all, he'll still be one (hi A-Rod). Actually, I think he'll end up worse because nothing is going to humble him. On the contrary. The media just LOVES the anointed one. And so does he. Mike Trout, on the other hand...

Holy sheeeeeeeet. I just got back from celebrating with my neighbors. What a comeback. This might just top last year. I am numb as to how they did this.

Beltrans' numbers aren't gaudy but man he's a talent when healthy. Like the Fred Taylor of MLB. Take him and deal with his injuries with a replacement player. He'll win you some games.

It made no sense putting Jackson in there. He frequently ####s the bed in his first inning and settles down thereafter. That should have been Mattheus' inning.

So why didn't Davey walk Kozma in the 9th? At the least you get the Cards to PH for Motte and have to bring in someone else in the bottom of the 9th.

Ya know, I was so caught up in the euphoria of the Cardinals tying it up at the time that that never occurred to me, but in hindsight, yep, terrible blunder by Johnson.

Yeah, that never occurred to me either and makes so much sense. Not only that, but you get the bat out of Kozma's hands, who has been hot, and put it on the pinch hitter.

feel for ya, Nats fan. it's going to hurt for a while.

now imagine it's a potential clinching game in the World Series, and it happens to you TWICE in that game. :RangersFan:

My biggest beef with Davey is probably that he let Espinosa stink it up for all five games. Should have shaken up the lineup just a little after game 2. Lombardozzi can lead off and get on base against righties, he's done it consistently all year. Could have provided a spark. ####, he could have been our David Eckstein this year, but we'll never know.

I guess the Edwin thing was matchups.. I don't know, I can't defend it or any other pen related decisions.. but it's always easy to go back and criticize a manager on a million things after a bad loss.

He got the game to his closer with a 2 run lead, although every pitcher he put out there had the playoff yips. Lombo for Espy or walking Kozma weren't going to change that one, although I thought Davey should have given Lombo at least one start. He managed a very good game. Gio gave up 3, Edwin 1 and Clip 1--pitching is a confidence game and they trust Davey becasue he let them battle. You can't point to anyone in the bullpen who would have likely had a better outcome than that, so Davey backed them. The experience will serve them well for next year. Det was the only pitcher that didn't mess the bed when faced with the playoff pressure.
