Just because they were succesful at USC, and even if Carroll does say he thinks Leinart can be successful in the NFL (what else is he going to say about Leinart when asked???) doesn't mean "one of his first moves" will be trying to acquire Leinart. I agree, Ryan Leaf has finally been let off the hook. When Al Davis is ready to admit he was wrong and cut Russell, he'll be the name everybody mentions when referring to a bust... congrats Ryan Leaf, you can sleep soundly.

I agree, Ryan Leaf has finally been let off the hook. When Al Davis is ready to admit he was wrong and cut Russell, he'll be the name everybody mentions when referring to a bust... congrats Ryan Leaf, you can sleep soundly.

First off, isn't Leaf in prison or at least soon to be there? I don't think he's sleeping too soundly. Second, the Chargers gave up a lot of their future in draft picks to move up past AZ to take Leaf. AZ had just signed Plummer to the biggest contract/signing bonus in their history. Losing everything they gave up for Leaf for an unnecessary jump has to factor in a bit. Plus Leaf was a trainwreck off the field, in the lockerroom and now is facing jail time for importing drugs. I think Russell, who just sucks, still has some big shoes to fill as greatest bust. It's not like he ruined the Raiders for years, they were already ruiined and will be until Davis stops drafting and coaching for them.
