Per the scroll on ESPN.

Whats the move here for Cincy, do they take a QB with their first round pick, or do they call Carsons Bluff?... If he is even bluffing.

Have a feeling Minny will be in on the trade rumors. He's better than what they have now at QB...nothing.

He and Favre can ride away into the sunset together. Seriously, just go.

Bring in Kolb, Mikey. He has to be cheaper than $11.5 million. Or go get Caleb Hanie. Apparently he's the 2nd coming of Tom Brady.

Seems like a situation where moving him will make sense. I think there will be a number of teams interested, and it would seem like the time is perfect for Cincinnati to move in another direction.

I don't blame Palmer for wanting to leave. I think he can still play and a change of scenery may be what he needs. I would think that a lot of teams would be interested.

The whole NFC West is interested (sans STL).
Arizona and SF are closest to home and Seattle has Carroll. I think whoever gets him wins the West.
I don't see why Palmer can't help any of those teams compete, I agree. Presumably if the acquiring team's medical staff was worth its pay grade, they would do everything they could to make sure the rumors of Palmer's arm being shot were untrue. If he cleared a rigorous physical, I don't see why a better environment and a change of scenery couldn't mean another viable few years.

Palmer is the root of the problem for the Bengals. He will play solid football for the majority of the game, but he makes 3-4 complete bonehead decisions in a game that ultimately determine the outcome.

The Bengals were in a ton of close games this year. Palmer is a big part of the reason why they lost so many of them.

If I am Carolina I offer a 4rth and be content to get him for a 3rd. He is one of those qbs that just needs a change of scenery.

Love it. Although his arm is shot.
Serious question: How does a trade work? Can teams bring Palmer in for a physical before they agree to terms with the Bengals? Even if they have to agree to terms, what level of injury/deterioration needs to be revealed in order for the trade to be nullified?

I'm not 100% sure of the specifics, but I believe a trade can be worked out before any physical, and then isn't final until the physical, giving the acquiring team an opportunity to walk away (or change the terms of the trade).

Plamer's due to make $11M+ next season - I don't see alot of teams interested at that price. I think that he'll need to be released and then I could see some teams interested.

I don't blame him one bit for wanting to leave.... with that said... BYE!!!!

Is his arm really shot? Granted I have not watched a ton of games but I thought the issue was his knee and not elbow? Does he lack accuracy or strength?

Mike Brown is the root of the problem. And a big part of the reason they won all of the close ones last year.

I think the team trading for the player can flunk him for any arbitrary reason they want. Remember when Mangini traded for Lee Suggs knowing full well he had neck issues. Then Mike Nolan called them and let them know Kevan Barlow was available so they flunked Suggs and scooped Barlow.

I think the perfect time to move in another direction is actually '12. Mainly because of the CBA stuff this year - which seems to have put the Bengals in the mode of keeping it duct-taped together for another year rather than try to implement something new. I'm not in love with the idea of starting out a young QB with a staff that really could still be gone in another year. I don't love the idea of putting a young QB in with the young receivers, though. I think by the time the QB is ready it might be too late for those guys. If we draft a QB, I hope we actually go the veteran stop-gap route ala Kitna for a year again.-QG

I think implicit in any trade would be Palmer renegotiating the deal. If he's not willing do that, they should just let him retire. If he opts to do a come back to get back on the books just dump him in September and foreclose his options for a starting job. Spiteful? Yes. But Palmer is not the only one with leverage here and the Bengals should assert that.-QG

His arm is not shot. Anyone that thinks so hasn't watched him play. He still throws too many INTs, but he also throws a lot of TDs. Someone will want him. Problem is, the Bengals would be fools to give him up for less than a late 1st rounder.

He's 31 and has been stuck in the armpit of the NFL for 8 seasons. It's not like he didn't suck it up and try to turn the team around for those 8 years. There's only so much you can do with a bad owner and a fools for HC. Who can blame him for wanting out of there?

Agree but where does Cinci go if they let him walk or trade him? He definitely is not worth a 1st, and even a 2nd some teams might not want to part with. Although a team like Minnesota might say a 2nd is a bargain and make a play for him. The Vikings offensively are a terrific place for any QB to land, they just need some OL help but I'm sure they will get it. The defense isn't too bad, a decent QB and they are right back int he playoffs.

I think he's worth a first especially in this draft. He's likely got plenty of time left in the league.(Assuming a good coach hire) The Titans need a QB and a CB badly. Plugging those two holes and they are instantly a solid team. They need more but... Signing Palmer might get Moss to stay too and the notion of Palmer throwing to Britt and Moss with CJ running...that's worth a first IMO.What are they going to add in the draft that will have the same impact?Adding a rookie QB to their young offense might be a decent idea but in 2-3 years when that rook is good, they won't be the same team. They probably can't afford both Tackles. Britt and CJ will be bringing in huge $ then and...it just sorta snowballs. San Fran is a team that has some glaring probs, but I really like what they do have. Carson makes that team instantly good as well.Find a Carolina fan that wouldn't want Steve Smith to be instantly better and/or to not have to worry about the QB spot. Some of these teams have too good first round picks that might make a second more likely, but he's good now. Rooks likely aren't.

His accuracy is not what it was. I wouldn't give a first for him or even a second. I would much rather have a young player that has upside. I don't see Palmer doing any better than he has done.

I can only imagine what it's like to play for a perennial loser. I think it's highly likely he improves (a smidge not too too much) on a new team

As a Rams fan I hope I am wrong but he seems like Whiz's kind of guy.

I could really see him in a Cardinal uniform next year.
