I have been an owner in a league that uses a free agent bidding system (no cap) without software for the last 4 years, and I started another league that uses a tweaked bidding system (capped) 2 years ago also without software. The process we use in the league I run calls for bidding on free agents through Thursday 10:00pm and then open acquisitions until 5 minutes before first snap on Sunday. Between the 2 leagues we have already gone through many growing pains that I feel CBS is about to begin. Since the FAAB process is so new to them there is no full explanation of how it will work exactly so I’ve had to ask a few questions and to their credit they have responded quickly. I now understand their version of this process (for the most part) but do still have issues with it.
One issue we have is that when using the FAAB free agents can only picked up through bidding on the 'bidding run' days. Since Sunday is restricted from being part of the run this means no pick ups at all on Sunday to cover a late or previously unreleased injury issue.
Also, the last chance any owner would have to acquire a player is by bidding before 11:59pm Saturday and then wait until 6:00am Sunday to find out they didn't get the player they wanted. Although owners can place bids on multiple players I'm still not sure if these bids can be conditional ... that's the next question I have to ask them.
I'm glad CBS has added this feature because I believe that it is the fairest way to run the free agent process like mentioned in a previous post. But, unfortunately I think the CBS is not going to cut it ... at least not for the 2 leagues I'm in. Has anybody else looked into the FAAB process, and if so what are your thoughts? Maybe/hopefully I'm missing something in how CBS is handling this … I’d love to use any software to automate this process. I am looking into Xpert Sports to possibly host the league I run and would be willing to look into other sites that have a free agent bidding provision. Does anybody know of external bidding software or websites? Thanks for any replies.
