Chad Henne says Tebow "isn't an NFL quarterback" (1 Viewer)

This is a non-story if it's anyone but Tebow involved. The only reason anyone should care about what Henne has to say about Tebow is if you think Henne is hearing it from the people trying to coach up Tebow. There is a connect there, but so far there's no reason to think Henne's quote was based on anything but Henne's own opinion.
agreed. anyone but Tebow and this is a forgotten convo on a local sports talk show.
Really? Can you provide me an example of an NFL QB talking about a legit NFL prospect (Tebow got invited to the combine- that makes him a legit prospect, no matter what anyone thinks) and saying that said legit prospect was not an NFL player? We don't know if this would be a non-story when it's not Tebow, because nobody feels compelled to offer their opinions when it's not Tebow.Edit: Could you imagine Jamaal Charles saying that Toby Gerhart is not an NFL RB? Would that really be a non-story?
It's not like Henne held a press conference to give his view of Tebow. He was asked in a radio interview and answered the question. Nobody asks about anyone but Tebow. The Henne situation is an example, they didn't ask him about Bradford, McCoy, Clausen, LeFevour, Pike etc, they asked about Tebow. Tebow will benefit from all this attention. I'd be surprised if he has not signed a big money shoe/sport gear deal before the draft and a Gatorade deal seems too natural not to happen just to name two options. It's a double edged sword, with that rockstar status comes a rockstar level of scrutiny. So Tebow might have to deal with Henne not liking his prospects as an NFL QB on his way to the bank. If you really want other examples, look at past drafts with active players giving TV commentary. Most of the time they cherry coat it but there have been plenty of examples of players giving non-glowing predictions of a prospects prospects in the NFL. Remember Vrabel ripping on Matt Jones? Probably not, because it wasn't seen as a big deal anywhere outside of Arkansas.

EDIT: And just to clarify, Henne didn't say Tebow wouldn't make it as an NFL player, he said QB.

Oops....

Looks like Henne will be back to holding a clipboard next year and Timmy will be running the show in Denver.

If being an NFL QB doesn't work out for you Chad, you can always be a talent scout :goodposting:

And anyone with a pulse and a casual or better knowledge of the NFL knows that he himself is a crappy at best NFL QB.

lol...don't you think a few games is too early to judge Tebow? He may break with convention and turn into a great NFL QB, but I haven't seen enough yet.

lol cut henne some slack......tebow's still a far way's away from proving himself....plus even the best athletes are poor judge of talents....didn't michael jordan draft kwame brown?

I may have seen enough to know he's better than Henne.

I we sure he wasn't thinking "I hope is not going to be a good NFL QB"? Henne doesn't need any more competetion out there. I bet Jamarcus Rusell, Matt lienart, Tavarias Jackson and a boat load of other QB's are felling the same way.
Henne has nothing to worry about. I think Tebow could be good but Henne will have a starting job for a long time.
:bye: I think I may have been quite wrong about Mr. Henne.

While I'm a huge Tebow supporter, this was more about the irony behind Henne saying that Tebow isn't an "NFL Quarterback". Not how good he is yet.

As a certified MIA fanatic, I can assure you that Henne is a really good backup caliber QB.

Wow this is my first time ever seeing this. Henne should keep his mouth shut until he himself figures out how to be a legit NFL quarterback. The best part is that when he made this comment, he was coming off a season that was just as bad as the one he put up this year. In two games, Tebow has already looked better than him

wouldn't it be great if at some point in the next couple years for Henne to be Denver backup QB?

Karma can be a B!+c#
