Chad Henne (1 Viewer)

anyone else impressed with henne? I thought he played great. he made some errors, especially those red zone passes to marshall, but I think those can be improved. What are your thoughts?

Well...he called 2 timeouts and took a needless sack in the red zone on just the 1st drive. Miami didn't score the rest of the 1st half. Short field to start the 2nd got it to 14-14, then the plug was pulled out and the Phins went down the drain. lot of garbage time scoring this week. Did you want to talk NFL or fantasy?

either I guess.

I know he scored a ton of fantasy points. It seems the dolphins strategy will be far more pass oriented than in previous years. As someone looking for a decent back up QB, Henne looks to be valuable. at least over a guy like I have on my bench, Matt Cassel.

Miami wont win if their defense plays like that every game. Question is, will Miami's offense be that effective in the majority of their other games? Is NE defense that bad?

I think Miami has to throw the football and Henne will have some stinkers but I like his upside as a QB2 for bye weeks right now more than Cassel, yes.

what did you think of reggie bush?

I am still shocked that miami thinks they can run bush inside 10+ times a game. did they not watch any of the games he played as a saint?

When Bush gets hurt(and it will happen), they will really have to throw constantly since it seems Thomas is far away from playing meaningful snaps

He looked good on the first drive but wore down throughtout the game

Miami is going to burn him out in a month if they keep doing that.

New England did have the 30th ranked pass defense last year - which in part is due to teams trying to keep up with their offense but also obviously shows they struggle in that regard.

Henne looked like a very servicable QB last night. NE (limited) pressure forced some quick reads which he made. I'm buying as a QB2...

I'm rolling with Henne as my only QB in a league where everyone else felt the need to get 2-3 QBs each and overpay for them all.

He looked good last night, but I wouldn't have any idea what to expect the rest of the season.

Maybe he got inspired by another under-sized Big Ten QB who had a couple of uninspiring first seasons with a nice completion percentage and was in his make or break season?

That's crazy talk, but he's got weapons and Miami looks like they want turn him loose. Certainly worth a look for anyone desperate at QB. I like his weapons more than Fitzpatrick and Grossman.

Henne has no idea how to utilize Marshall, despite Marshall's acceptable end game stat line. I stopped watching at the end of the 3rd, but I don't think I even saw them get the ball into Marshall's hands on a short route to let him get YAC, which is the strongest part of his game. When Miami got to the redzone, Henne kept gunning the ball to Marshall at chest height, completely negating Marshall's height and catch radius advantage over the defender. How Henne can play with Marshall for going on 3 years now and not know to loft the ball to the WR that looks like a TE is beyond me.

That says it all. Henne is an average NFL QB. He either does not have the smarts or the accuracy to use his WRs to their advantage.

Bottom line...Miami will be a pass offense this year with new OC and ? running game to sustain offense, Henne has lots of weapons. Miami D is fair- will not win many 3-0 contests, and their pass schedule is VERY favorable. Top 12 potential for sure...maybe #12 but he has def. progressed over the off season...

I am buying...

Henne has played with Marshall TWO years not 3....this is his second year with him so I believe they are just started to get adjusted to each other. Marshall is also just getting adjusted to his medication as well

i agree with most of what you say, but this is just the second year marshall has been in Miami right?

I just picked up Henne and dropped Cassel. I normally would want to see another game or two before making the move, but dont want some other owner to grab em and the chiefs look like true ######

if we're going to talk about guys who'd actually land in a starting lineup, I'd say Marshall was probably the biggest winner last night. 13 targets, lots in the red zone, showed good moves. It would have been nice if they looked even more in sync as 7 catches out of 13 attempts is fair at best...but they were in comeback mode all night and he was up against McCourty. Overall, Marshall should be inched up the rankings as it looks like Miami's pass yards totals may outpace most preseason projections by 20%+.

My thinking is to go with Henne the rest of the way. Miami's schedule is very favorable for quite a nice fantasy stat line for Henne. Not to mention if their defense plays the same way, they may be playing a lot of catchup. Although, other than Marshall and perhaps Fasaano, I'm not very comfortable with just REggie Bush as the other option. But I"m going to roll with henne until he tanks.

So true. Marshall may very well end up with decent stats this season but his talents are so wasted there.

Worth a pickup if you need qb help like me with my drafted Manning/Bradford combo. They cant run in the red zone so hes gonna throw alot. He did look inaccurate out there but what else is new.

I thought he looked shockingly accurate. He threw some beautiful passes last night, and had 5 or 6 passes go for more than 20 yards. He looked comfortable in the pocket, which is unusual for him, and unexpected given that this was his first real game with a new OC and a new offense, and the very first time he has been allowed to call audibles at the line. He not only threw for 400+, but he also ran for 59 yards, and made no horrible mistakes. His lone INT was on the final play of the game. Guy had a great game against a healthy Patriots D. He also looked great in the last 2 preseason games (I know its preseason), making it 3 nice games in a row for him.

Definitely worth a waiver claim. It is not out of the question that Henne has turned a corner. Gotta keep in mind the shackles that Henning (previous OC) had put on him, in a run-heavy offense where he was not allowed to improvise. Those shackles are off, and he looked like a different player. And that is only 1 game into his development into the new offense.

No brainer waiver pickup IMO. I wish he was available in any of my leagues.

My bad, yes, this is their second year together.

<div><br></div><div>Edit:  But I stand by my assessment that Henne hasn't figured out how to properly throw to a tall possession receiver in the redzone.  He knows how to zip the ball in to a speedy WR at chest level, but the Stafford to CJ-esque lob pass is not in his repertoire.</div><div><br></div><div>And does anyone else have tons of problems with this forum and Chrome?  I can't use the Emoticon insert and its leaving a bunch of HTML tags in my posts like the one above.</div>

I thought alot of his down the field throws were off by a bit. Seemed like he was throwing short 1s alot to Bush. I was actually surprised to see how good he was moving in the pocket and making plays with his feet.I hope your right about him turning a corner. He does have a few nice weapons on offense this year. If Bush stays healthy hes gonna help Henne alot. With Marsh/Bush/Bess/Hartline he does have some weapons on offense.
