Chad Jackson (1 Viewer)

He was the best rookie WR in his draft, as per talent, and went to a well rounded team in the Patriots. He strikes me as a timid guy who is willing to learn and do his best for the team. He had an unfortunate injury last year before he really could have the chance to prove himself. Moss isn't old but is at his latter end of his career and with no future WR for their team could Jackson look like "the man" after Moss?....or even prove himself worthy during the Patriots-Moss period?

I just read on Rotoworld that:

"Chad Jackson saw extensive action with the Patriots' starting offense during Organized Team Activities.

With Wes Welker nursing an injury, Jabar Gaffney slid to the slot and Jackson ran at split end opposite Randy Moss. Jackson got glowing reports and should have every opportunity to overtake Gaffney as a starter in August. Due to his size and speed, Jackson could bring a lot more to the Patriots' offense."

Sounds like an intruiging guy to draft.

I'm not sold on Jackson, and even if he does get the starting gig he won't see all that many balls IMO due to the numerous amounts of weapons they have. Best case, he gets the starting gig and maxes out at Stallworth's numbers last year. Not bad, but not enough upside to take him where he'll probably be drafted if he does land the starting gig.

That's exactly the production I'm talking about though. For this rookie (well, really a 2nd year player disregarding 2007) to put up Stallworth numbers until Moss's age fades him out of worthiness and Jackson takes over as the "go to" guy who will put up #1 WR stats on the Pats. I'm asking if the Pats see him as this guy and if he is capable of doing it.

You know, I was just thinking about this this morning. With Stallworth gone, who are we going to see lining up opposite Moss this year? Jackson or Gaffney, or will it be some kind of rotation or what? I think Welker is strictly their slot guy, and rightfully so. I could maybe see them split him out on occasion just to shake things up, but certainly not on any kind of regular basis. It'll be interesting to follow.

Right. Again, I'm more curious about his potential in his situation (age of WR on the team and who they are, the qb throwing to him, the stability of the team on offense...as well as defense, etc) not necessarily this year but in years to come. I can see him, if things work out, being phased IN to the #1 WR eventually within the next, say, 3 years.

Yes. I fully believe that NE thinks Gaffney is no more than a 4th receiver and would prefer him in that role. IMO, the job is Jackson's to win and no matter what Gaffney does, he's along for the ride.

The coaching staff and BB are pulling for Jackson to win the job. The main obstacles at this point are (in order):

1) Hasn't clicked yet with Brady

2) Been banged up the past two years

3) Some questioned his work ethic the past two years (but that seems to no longer be an issue).

I fully expect him to be on the field a ton and lining up opposite Moss. IMO, he will match or surpass what Stallworth produced last year.

Only one staffer has him ranked at all (at #58). If I ever find the time to post my rankings, he'll be right around WR40.

Marco EsquandolasJackson can "Run Like an Antelope" but he needs to do a better job in his route running. Unfortunately he was a bit of a "Fluffhead" coming out of college but seems to be doing a better job of getting his act together off the field and focusing on the play book.

If Jackson shows that he truly gets it he will be utilized accordingly. Moss is the man but Brady will use him, along with Welker, to keep the defenses honest. I have Jackson on my roster but he has a lot to prove.

He is well worth a roster spot on your dynasty bench. In a great situation and could emerge as a viable WR3/4 in another year.

Here's the thing. It's now or never for Jackson. I doubt the Pats will keep him if he doesn't produce this year. So he's playing for his job, either in NE or for another team next year. I doubt he will get a free pass if he does not start showing significant strides and puts up some decent numbers on the field.

He'll be on a LOT of my rosters if his ADP doesn't change.
Funny cause he will be on a LOT MORE rosters if his ADP does change. :X

At his current price in dynasty leagues, he's a must get. Huge upside. Great system.

People love to grab WRs on Jax/Titans, but what kind of upside do they really have? Guys on the Colts/Pats are in dream situations for the most part, and are much better gambles with your roster spot.

Welker is more than a slot guy. He always plays the slot when they go three wr. However, sometimes he plays the slot when they go two wr and split Watson out wide. HE also will line out wide on occasion. HE played in 71% of NE snaps last season, and I expect a similar total this season.
