Chad Pennington (1 Viewer)

Raider Nation

Devil's Advocate
Let me say right off the bat that I don't have Pennington, nor am I playing against him. I have no agenda here. If you have Chad, he should be in your lineup tomorrow unless you have P. Manning, Brees or Palmer.

The Jets have a committee of suck at RB, and the Vikes are about to set a record for fewest rushing yards allowed per game in the Super Bowl era. The Jets have the receivers to do damage on the carpet, and Minnesota's secondary is very poor. Pennington is going to throw all day, and it wouldn't surprise me if he was well over 300 yards with 2+ scores when it's all over.

I really wish I had him this week. :(

As of now I have Grossman and Kitna starting over Pennington. What kind of voodo, mambo jambo witch doctor told you Pennington was the man for Sunday. Is this worth me switching one of them based on your hunch?

Well, Chicago is going to run the ball 90 times, and Kitna isn't exactly Dan Marino. That said, I'm not making your lineup decisions for you.

All I'm saying is that I would feel really optimistic starting Pennington tomorrow. That's all.

I have no argument here. Vikings fans know to expect a let down at some point during every game. It's part of their oath as Vikings fans to understand that and be OK living with that.

I didn't say they'd lose, I just said that at sompe point in the game, there will be a let down. Seriously, check your fan club card - it's there. :excited:

There was a moment that I thought about starting him over Romo, but I just can't do it.
Interestingly, I am playing against a guy who had the same choice. he is a Jet homer and went with Pennington and I was happy with that before the game last night. I wouldn't expect Pennington to outscore Romo's outing last night. I could see the same output with less yards on the top side for Pennington.

I also believe Pennington will have a nice day. If he doesnt, the Jets might get shut out

I don't doubt Pennington may have 300 yds and a TD or 2. He better or else the Jets will only score 7 pts. Buts it's also not a lock and does not warrant QB4 status this week. Move him up, fine. But Top 4? No way. The Vikings secondary is not poor IMO. Winfield is top notch and one of the best tacklers in the league. Griffin is an up and coming CB who was NFC Def POW last week. Sharper is still Sharper and Dwight Smith has been serviceable with some nice plays made.

RAIDERNATION is a very smart man. You'll be like EF Hutton to me next time. If I had benched Kitna and started Pennington I would feel much better right now about my chances to win this week. If I had listened to RN though I would have benched Grossman and started Pennington and Kitna which would have been worse for me. I just now have to hope that IND figures out a way to play defense for the first time this season and keep CPalm in moderate human numbers monday night.

Good call

Again, good call RN. I'm going to bump this on a related note but it might deserve it's own thread.

Championship week 16 (or semifinals or consolation games) for a lot of folks here...can we take these thoughts forward one more week...

Should we think of BRETT FAVRE as a must start here, in primetime, in what is very probably his last game in Lambeau Field - against the very same Vikings that Chad Pennington threw passes up, over and around last week?

I say yes, he bounces back from a terrible game and goes for 300/2/1 and finishes his Lambeau career out with a victory.

Thoughts?

For full disclosure, I've got Vick/Schaub as my other QBs and will be riding The Favre Train this week.

Coles schooled the rookie Griffin pretty badly last week.

I imagine Driver can do so as well. But Griffin has played better than he did last week earlier in the season so he could bounce back.

Favre should certainly HAVE to throw more than Vick will. The only thing you have to worry about is that the Vikings will mail it in the last two games. If that happens, the Pack will be able to run on them.Still, how do you not roll with #4 here?

Alright RN, any predictions on CP this week against the FINS? I'm planning on starting him and Grossman and leave Kitna on the bench.

I have to decide between him and Grossman. I don't really know how long Grossman will play.
