So with this very slow fantasy football offseason (which is sure to heat up over the next 48 hours with the draft, and potentially free agency) my league has started making it interesting in other ways, wagers. I've found myself in two different $100 this week already, and would love to hear some opinions if I have a shot at winning either.
Bet #1 is a wager of which team will have a better regular fantasy season record (first 13 weeks). My team is coming off back to back championships, and has either had the most wins, or tied for the most each of the last two years. It's a 10 team dynasty with pretty standard non-PPR scoring, though we do get "bonuses" for 5,8, and 10 receptions, as well as bonuses for 100 yards rushing/receiving and 300 yards passing. It's also IDP with pretty standard IDP scoring. We start 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 WRs, 2 flex, 1 TE, 1 K, 2 DL, 2 LB, and 2 DB.
My team -
Aaron Rodgers, Freeman, Fitzpatrick
R Rice, Mendenhall, Forte, B Wells, D Brown
Roddy, Calvin J., Marshall, V Jax, J Jones, D Alexander
Finley, V Davis
M Bryant
Suggs (he's a DL in our league), Cole, Mathis, W Smith, Kiwanuka, C Long
Mayo, Beason, Ruud, Ryans, McClain, Hawthorne
R Harper, Y Bell, L Delmas
#10, #11, and #12 rookie picks
His team -
Vick, Eli, McNabb, V Young
Peterson, McFadden, Benson, M Lynch, B Scott, Caddy, L McClain, Karim
Maclin, Dez, B Edwards, Colston, S Moss, D Avery, M Clayton, Cribbs
K Winslow, Cooley
Janikowski
J Allen, J Peppers, Pierre-Paul, Idonije
D Harris, L Woodley, D Washington, R McIntosh
L Landry, M Griffin, N Allen
#7, #17 rookie picks
*Big Issue!! - I play him week 8.
My players on bye that week - Rodgers, Freeman, Forte, Roddy, Finley, Bryant
His players on bye that week - McFadden, Braylon, Winslow, Janik., Peppers, D Harris
My thoughts - We're pretty even at QBs, and RBs 1-3. I've got him at WR, and at TE, and with my defense. I'm also a bit deeper everywhere I feel, other than QB.
Bet #2, pretty straight forward - Will Beanie Wells be a top 25 fantasy RB this year? If he misses 3 or more games due to injury, I'm off the hook. If he's top 25 at the position, I'm $100 richer. The way I see it, he was actually top 20 weeks 6 and beyond his rookie year (when healthy and with a far better offense and a guy named Warner). He was also in a timeshare, and when fully healthy I think he can win that job. For comparison, RBs 20-25 in our league last year were Moreno (hurt for 3 games), Tomlinson, Best (turn toe all year), Blount (didn't really start till week 7), B Jacobs (#2 in RBBC), and Danny Woodhead (seriously?!). Thoughts?
