Chargers' 2007 Schedule (1 Viewer)

Home – Denver, Kansas City, Oakland, Houston, Indianapolis, Chicago, Detroit and Baltimore.Road – Denver, Kansas City, Oakland, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Green Bay, Minnesota and New England.
Apart from the usual divisional matchups, drawing Indy, Chicago, Baltimore, Jacksonville, Tennessee and New England isn't fun. But then again they do get to play the rest of the NFC central.I think 2007 looks tougher than this year's 2006 schedule, although I realize things change during the offseason.I could see the Chargers having a tough time getting to double digit wins next year.

We knew the schedule had to get harder since they won the division this year.Surprised you don't think they can do just as well. The team isn't losing any of the key pieces. Rivers will have more experience. They beat NE on the road last year, along with a really good Indy team. Swept Denver this year. I like the fact that they will get to play the top teams. There are a lot of really good games on that list.

I don't think winning the division made it that much more difficult. All that changes is we get Baltimore at home instead of Cincy or Pitt, and we go to NE instead of NYJ or Buffalo or Miami. Barring injuries, there is no reason to think they shouldn't put up numbers comparable to this year..

Pretty much nailed it. The only difference between the Raiders schedule and the Chargers is.Home - Chargers have Balt and the Raiders play Clev (yes big difference)Away - Chargers go to N.E and the Raiders go to Miami (not such a big difference in my opinion, of course both depend on the time of year each team travels.)That's it, the rest of the opponents and where the games are played are the exact same. This is basically due to the 4 divisions instead of the traditional 3 divisions. Oh well, so be it today's NFL also has teams change in strength so quickly who really knows where a scheduling advantage lies.Edited to state, I see no reason the Chargers would not have another good year next year. Sure, maybe not a 13 or 14 win season, but a good year non the less. They are young and very talented group. Even if they don't win the SuperBowl this year Charger fans, don't be too upset, you have a good team to watch with potential for a couple runs at it. It doesn't last long in today's NFL, so enjoy it.

Since 1995, the league's top scoring team in Year X has averaged 494 points scored per year and 438 points in Year X + 1 (a 13% decrease in scoring). There are lots of things that we could discuss as reasons why that's been the trend, but bottom line is that the likelihood is that SD will take a dip scoring wise in 2007. I agree that on paper there is nothing to suggest that their offense will be less potent next season, but many times things don't seem to work out that way.

You have no way of knowing if 2007 schedule is tough or not in December. Heck, you don't know if a team is tough to play against until a week before.

 For the most part I agree. It just struck me as much tougher than this year's schedule and more similar to last year's schedule against which the Chargers went 9-7 and missed the playoffs. I also thought it would be nice to talk about something other than how Peyton Manning is a cancer.Reading that article with LaDainian's wife she mentioned Godfrey and Neal were talking retirement. I think Cooper can fill for Godfrey, but if Neal retired it would leave some pretty big shoes to fill.

Yeah that's true. I didn't mean to make a blanket statement. Some teams are predictable each year. I'm sure the Bears will have a difficult defense for example. I just wouldn't worry too much about 2007. Some of the tough teams that you mentioned will stink it up next year. And hey, the Chargers don't have to face the toughest team in the league...San Diego!

Winning the division doesn't hold as much as it used to when it comes to the following year's schedule. It only effects 2 games, in this case they will play New England and Baltimore who are the tops of their respective division.

all AFC 1st place schedules are "tough"...besides a west coast trip TO San Diego, the Ravens drew the NFC-W, and of course go to Seattle and SF, while AZ and StL come here

that's 3 trips to the left coast...
