Chargers at Saints (1 Viewer)

boy...SD got screwed in this game, but Norv is still the biggest moron coaching in the NFL. Why on earth do you leave Gaither out there? Dude couldn't even get in his stance let alone block!

If we had a real coach, he would of seen Gather was hurting bad and replaced him. I hate Norv Turner!! I wish would of got rid of him last year. The Chargers will always be nothing as long as he is there. Makes it rough on a fan like me!!

Chargers got screwed. Rivers' interception came on defensive pass interference, and the BS OPI call on Gates negated the Chargers getting to the Saints 20 with a lot of time left and all of their timeouts. They would have had their full playbook available in that situation. Very disappointing to watch.

yep...this was as blatant a screw job as SEA/GB...maybe worse considering how it was back to back horrible calls that negated big gains.

Sad end to the game, the NFL made sure Brees and the Saints won. Sickening.
:goodposting:i try not to be a tinfoil hat guy, but it seemed pretty clear that NO was going to be given every chance to win on Brees record setting night. I think the NFL wanted his 48th game w/ a td to be a win. pure and simple. There were myriad AWFUL calls and all of them went against SD. But Norv is still a complete moron.

Yet, they are still 1-4 largely because the NFL suspended their head coach?

Yeah, pretty sure the NFL gives 0 fricks about us having a winning season.

The NFL wanted to send a strong message but still have them win on national TV when Brees breaks some meaningless record. Come on man, it's obvious.

You can't put a fix in. There would be too many channels it would have to go through but I do think the fans get to the refs in the dome. Afraid to call the defensive PI on the INT and then once they took the lead and the fans got into it, the Chargers got one call after they were penalized probably the equivalent of 71 yards between lost yardage and actual penalty yardage.

Some quality crying in here.
Well the fact that fans of other teams are saying it was bad calls that cost them a shot and the only ones pointing out the crying are Saints fans, I'd say that should tell you everything you need to know.
Bad calls in every game, man.Think we haven't been victimized by roddy "push off" white a billion times?
I'm just saying Saints fans are the only ones saying people are crying when most people agree Chargers got screwed. Not that they win the game but penalties made it extremely difficult. The defensive non PI call in a vacuum isn't a terrible call but the back to back calls then non call on Gates being held was inexcusable. Have to be consistent and offense usually gets the benefit of the doubt.

Gates wasn't held. Not even close.

No dog in this fight, in fact I think Rivers is a punk, but SD got jobbed. One of the worst, no make that the worst 4thQ officiating job I've ever seen, and every bad call went against SD. There was a blatant arm bar on Floyd early which I mentioned around page 6 or so... but that 4th Q was pitiful. It's as one sided as I've ever seen in the NFL. This wasn't just one bad call, it was a whole bunch of them strung together that changed the outcome of the game. Good defense, accuse everyone of crying. Your team was given this game. It was pitiful.

And again, for the fifth consecutive week, the "experts'" reports on Brees' demise are woefully inaccurate.

(Not even a Saints fan, but if you throw the ball 40-45 times a game for 5 straight weeks because you have no running game, yet the O-line also does a good job of protecting you, it seems obvious you are going to pile up yardage.)

I don't recall ever seeing a defense this bad. Ever.
Guess you haven't watched Buffalo yet this year.
It's too bad they won't play each other this year.
Superbowl?
Turns out I wasn't wrong. According to this, the Saints are the worst defense I have ever seen."They surrendered more than 400 yards to their fifth consecutive opponent and have now allowed 2,280 yards in five games. Only the 1950 Baltimore Colts, who yielded 2,431 yards, have allowed more in the history of the league in the first five games of a season. "

was it just me or was there some really bad homer officiating going on at the end of the game here? Those two penalties on the last drive(the PI on gates and the holding) were killers. really bad way to end the game. guess the nfl wanted to give the saints a W

i think the push off - which was the offensive PI - was valid but it was helped that the defender fell over in pursuit. probably wouldn't have drawn notice has the defender stayed on his feet.

the saints offense is fragile but still pretty effective through 5 games. they're averaging over 28ppg after all. it's the defense that is epically bad and straining the offense quite a bit.
