Chargers Young Widouts (1 Viewer)

Thought coming into the season that Jackson would be the guy to get more looks and take over for KMc. Now it looks like Floyd is coming on. Anyone got any good insight?

Maurile Tremblay is the guy you want to weigh in on this question & then listen to what he has to say.

Floyd cut into Jacksons value and cut into everyone's. With Gates and LT adding a 4th WR to the mix has basically resulted in hurting everyones value, Gates included. I've been holding onto Jackson in a few leagues and I'm going to release him in everyone after what I've seen the last two weeks and that is Floyd has basically asserted himself in some of the 3 WR sets over Jackson and is getting some of the end zone targets I tought Jackson would get. Not that I'd say Floyd has passed Jackson, but they appear to be options 4A and 4B in the Chargers passing game and while they will both score occasional TD's neither would be reliable as a starter.

Thats the way I feel as well. All though in my Dynasty leagues Im a bit more confused as to their future on the team as a whole. This year Im dissapointed and have dropped him in redrafts.

Jackson has gotten more playing time than Floyd. Floyd is mostly used in goal line packages, although he's been targeted deep a few times from around mid field as well.

Vincent Jackson has gotten a fair amount of playing time, but Rivers has just flat out missed him a few times when Jackson was open. Against the Titans, Jackson had more than a step on the defender, but Rivers overthrew Jackson deep down the right sideline. Against the Ravens, Jackson would have had a touchdown if Rivers had hit him on that 3rd and 19 play. Rivers also missed Jackson down the right sideline against the Steelers.

McCardell and Parker are the clear #1 and #2 WRs. Jackson may overtake McCardell next year, but for this year his fantasy value is quite limited. He is the #3 WR on a team whose top two receivers are the RB and TE.

But still, Jackson is #3 and Floyd is #4, not vice versa. Floyd has scored two TDs to Jackson's one, but Jackson could easily have another one or two TDs. (Rivers has generally been very accurate this year. He's only missed guys a few times. But it's happened disproportionately often to Jackson. I believe it is coincidence.)

Both guys have long-term potential. They are tall, athletic, have good hands, and can get deep. But they are dynasty prospects rather than redraft prospects, at least for this year.

Thanks, cleared things up perfectly.

Floyd may not have passed Jackson as the #3 but several times both last night and the previous week he was on the field when Jackson was not and he's not just used in goal situations either. I know he got twice as many targets as Jackson and i'd be curios to now how many plays he played but I"m willing to bet it's on par with Jackson. Either way, if you are starting any of those guys the best you can hope for is they grab you a TD that week because they won't be putting up a ton of catches.

Other than that it's just not good year to own Charger pass catchers as I'm finding out the hard way. Floyd, Jackson and Gates Rivers love near the goal line and that is further hurting McCardell and Parker who go from options 3 and 4 to 5 and 6 near the goal line.
