Obit here. Not to make light of the 15 pages of effort here, but for a guy who missed this thread, can anyone give more details on how he passed, how old he was, who he left behind, etc.? I'm assuming it was covered in here somewhere.
Thanks.

Yours is linked from a website. The actual file is pretty large as it is. It would have to be reloaded to a website and linked again after being edited.Anyone help me out?
it worked. be like shiny...patient.TestingETA: crap. Doesn't work and I don't have time to figure out why. My brother wants to go to the casino and isn't buying "But I have to superimpose the purple teletubby over the Michigan State logo!" as an excuse.

what do you do besides lowering the quality or changing to a gif? or cropping.PM sentI've used Photoshop, but the smallest I can get my file down to is 30k. How can I get the filesize smaller?
one of those 3 things should do it... I always start with: File-> Save for web.... then tinker with the quality and number of colors, etc. over on the right hand sidewhat do you do besides lowering the quality or changing to a gif? or cropping.PM sentI've used Photoshop, but the smallest I can get my file down to is 30k. you can select JPG, GIF, etc. also over on that right side...I usually select one of the presets in the dropdown then, if needed, play with the slider buttons to get it under the desired filesizeAh, I only did Save for web for the first time with my own animated gif. Can someone help me out? I'd either like a useable version of the linked photo, or I'd like my avatar on the left with more purple shading and an antenna. Thanks in advance for any help. That's pretty good; about what I envisioned actually. I think I'm going with that for now, but I don't have the energy to add Z's. Maybe later.Edit: If someone with Photoshop or other photo-editing software could save that .PNG as a .JPG (to make it an acceptable size) and using a clear or white background instead of the purple one that mysteriously generates when I open the picture in paint, I would appreciate it.saw this one and thought of you. Add some z's and it's even betterTip: press control+F5 to reload images to see updated avatars. Still thinking about trying to adjust mine.

While I'm not much for the FFA of late, there's no question that there is a huge community here at FBG and in the larger sense online. For someone to have learned of Shiny / Charlie despite geography through this medium is a positive. It is also a positive that people here would be so moved to have 800+ posts to his memory.Again, I'm not in the FFA much with so much going on, but when I just learned of Shiny's passing (through the avatar tributes - again a nice touch) and knew I should come over and say something despite not knowing him that well. "Shining Path" was a member that I knew of and enjoyed at times, like many here, and he deserves all the respect and remembrance that he is and will continue to receive. My thoughts and prayers extend to Charlie, the Bosworths and his extended friends both here and elsewhere.Rest in peace, Shiny. There is no easy way to post a thread like this, but we’ve just learned that our friend Charlie “Shining Path” Bosworth passed away at the end of May. It is perhaps a commentary on our own busy lives that many of us who considered Shiny among our best online friends did not notice that he was no longer posting. It is an oversight that we are all sick over.To the friends he made online, Shiny was a huge part of what made this community special. It’s been a place to argue and to commiserate, but mostly a place to make each other laugh. And for nine years, Shiny, perhaps uniquely, did just that.A lot of silly things about Shiny have become a part of board lore. Things like his high school era pompadour, his encyclopedic knowledge of Bloom County, or his hysterical contributions to classic threads like The Russian Bride Draft or the old Amoeba Art thread on the yellow board. On the serious side, those of us who really valued learning about science came to rely on his patient, thorough explanations of highly technical concepts. We will miss those things, but we will mostly miss our friend. Many of us have developed real, brick and mortar friendships over the years. To my knowledge Shiny never met any of us in person. It is an oversight that we are saddened that we will never have a chance to correct. But Shiny was no less special to us for being most immediately recognizable by his purple Tinky Winky avatar. Despite being “only” an online acquaintance, Shiny had helped many of us deal with harrowing personal crises. When family members became sick or when marriages were in trouble -- whenever things seemed bleakest -- Shiny was usually the first to remind us that laughter was the best medicine. This board encompasses a great diversity of religious and secular beliefs. Shiny has, at times, been a part of the debate concerning those issues. But in this, we hope the community at FBGs can all respond nearly as one. For those of you that believe, we hope you will say a prayer for the Bosworth family. For those that don’t, we ask that you remember Charlie in your way, fondly. We are going to try to reach out to the Bosworth family and will share with all of you any charity that the family identifies for donations.Thanks-Charlie's friends
