Charlotte, NC Hotel Question (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
I am going to be in Charlotte for a conference in mid-November but I don't have a corporate rate at the Charlotte Westin where the conference is being held.  I do have corporate rates at the following hotels:

Ritz, Dunhill, Omni, Sheraton and a bunch of others.

Which would Charlotte FBGs recommend knowing that I will have to go to the Westin daily?

Ritz is newer, very nice, and located right in the middle of Uptown (attached to main BofA offices and across from the Epicenter).  You can just take the train less than a block away right down to the Westin.  BLT Steak in the lobby and good cocktail lounge on one of the floors.  That would be my choice.

Omni is similarly located but not as nice.

Haven't been in the Dunhill but it is supposed to be very nice (a lot of co-workers from out of town prefer to stay there)...would be a bit further.

Sheraton is out on the edge of Uptown, there is nothing around there.  Don't do that.

I stayed at the Omni and Sheraton Marriott   You can walk to anything from both.   Both are well above average hotels.

Never been to NC, but it seems the Ritz is about 3Xs the cost of Westin.

In any case, the Sheraton Charlotte appears to be a five minute drive from Westin.

I don't recall that but it has been a while.   Browns were there last time I was.

Depends on if he is driving/taxis or walking around.  I personally would not recommend walking there from the places in the middle of Uptown he's likely to be having dinner/drinks.  CTC area can be rough.  Others are just more centrally located for entertainment and that is what I prefer when visiting cities.  YMMV though.

Another plus of Omni or Ritz is that you'd be right across from City Smoke which has the best bourbon prices around town.  They get way too much of my money :banned:

$7.5 Buffalo Trace pours FTW.

Dunhill is in about the same location as the Ritz and Omni. It's more of a boutique hotel and is nice if that's your thing. I would have put it above the Omni but below the Ritz.

Nooo! Unbook and stay at the Marriott City Center on Trade/Tryon. They just did a massive renovation and it's now their flagship hotel...they fly in employees from all different countries just to see this place.

I stayed there for work a few weeks ago and the concierge lounge in incredible. In addition to the royal treatment for breakfast and dinner each night, they have tons of free swag. Everything from a snack setup that resembles a free candy store to bags of local beef jerky for you to take with you. I was incredibly impressed.

Didn't know all of these details, but Stoke is very nice

Have your assistant call the Westin and say you work at Bank of America.  Their corporate rate is good and they have them at all SPG properties.  I've been saying I work at BAC for years and have never been called on it. However, at this point it is locked into my profile with SPG so the discounts automatically show up when I get to their site or use their app.
