I've only been to Charlotte once and I second this recommendation. Took a group of 12 there and had a good time - pretty good food and loved the beer.
Good place. Right off 485 two exits East is a new development called Rea Farms. There’s a Duckworth’s and Fuzzy’s Tacos. Both places are good and wide open so really good for multiple families.

Their Xmas market really is the best if anyone ever gets a chance to go. Probably 60+ local vendors. Good german beer and food. Hot wine. Huge area to walk around. Great for dates, families, the whole deal.

Check out Legal Remedy Brewing while you're wasting time in Rock Hill, right by Winthrop University.
Cowfish in Southpark is a fun place. Sushi/burger fusion.

There's also a really good escape room right near all the breweries.
Other options closer to Rock Hill:
Piedmont Social House has some bowling and game options. It's near 485 and Tryon. There is a Mac's Speed Shop near there as well, which is not as good as Midwood, but still decent.
Downtown Ft Mill is sort of nice as well, with a burger place called Hobo's, a BBQ with Asian twist called Improper Pig and a smaller farm to table type place called Local Dish there, near a very good brewery called Amor Artis.
Other options closer to Rock Hill:

LOL, I forgot about the Mill!!
There is a new(er) area in Fort Mill called Kingsley that has a bunch of places to eat as well. Right off 77 (exit 85 I think) so you'll see it as you drive by, couple of chains and some stand alones there:
Panera Bread, Smashburger, Brixx Pizza, Carolina Ale House, Cold Stone Creamery & Starbucks for the chains
Napa, Taco Molino, Spice & Corkscrew for the one off's.
All within a block or so of one another.

Hi all - I have a conference to go to in Charlotte in a couple weeks I’ll be by Ballantyne & I will definitely go to Olde Mecklenburg beer garden. And I’ve seen here (post by Joe) that Burial beer is good, so I’ll hit that.
Any other suggestions for BBQ & breweries/ beer?

Just be aware, they've built a new Olde Meck down in Ballantyne itself since this thread was posted in. The whole "Bowl in Ballantyne" area is very new.
Jon G's is the hot BBQ spot but it would be a bit out of the way/long lines.
If you're going more into the cities for these, happy to get a pint or so

Bbq - 12 bones. Be prepared for a line.
Breweries - large scale places - New Belgium and if you’re ok with a bit of a drive, Sierra Nevada. Small/downtown places - Wicked Weed, Burial, maybe Hi Wire. For pizza - Asheville brewing company.

Ah man thank you - there’s a 2nd OMB? Did not know that. I did think it was odd a place with such a good rep was in a suburban business setting. Is that fair? I see now where the original is. Good stuff. The new one is so close to my hotel and I was thrilled to see that.

I think the reputation of OMB is more that it does just more traditional German styles and has a big biergarten attached. I think they probably do a fair amount of corporate events in addition to once they host like Oktoberfest/Christmas market. Original location often crowded. The second location is pretty new and seemed similar to me. FYI - Legal Remedy as a destination, is no more. They still brew at the same spot in Rock Hill but they sold the restaurant so it's under a different name now. Food is still top notch and beer is still good.
