Chester Taylor To Start In Week 4 (1 Viewer)

AP keeps proving himself. Sooner or later they will just call him the starter.
Impossible to sit him now.
So impossible he only got the ball twice in the second half today.
Just baffles my mind. Especially after the stunt he pulled the week before and had AP on the bench at the end of the game. This was a close game against a division rival and AP was running right through them and just completely eliminated him in the 2nd half. I just don't get it......

I am not sure why everyone is so shocked. Imagine what would have happened if Childress had used ADP in the 2nd half - Vikings might have won a crucial home game, energizing the fan base, and setting unrealistic expectations. Who needs that? Not to mention the fans might actually expect ADP to play more in future games. What the @#$% do they know? Childress is a football genius - if he says Taylor gives the team a better chance to win, why should he have to listen to a bunch of whining fans. It is just much easier to keep ADP off the field - he clearly is not ready for the NFL.

AD was even tearing it up on kick returns. I was scared he was hurt due to his lack of touches in the 2nd half. Looks like it was just the coach :wall:

I don't know how much more stupid the coaches at Minnesota can be. Feed the hot f'in hand. Unless, of course, you WANT to lose...

Maybe Childress hung out with Norv Turner the past week. I mean, not using Peterson seems crazy - running LT2 all of 6 times IS crazy. At least MINn was trailing - Turner just seemed to refuse to burn any time with lt, hoping instead a terrible D and a shoddy pass game would continue to add points. sorry - tangent there -- won't happen again.

Trade Chester Taylor to Tampa for Chris Simms. Win win for both teams.
Hard as it is to believe with what Minn has at qb, but I don't think Simms would be an upgrade (at least this year) over what is already there. Simms looked AWFUL during preseason. And TB will be ok with Pittman, Graham and Kenneth Darby (if/when they bring him up from the practice squad)

-- Why Did Peterson See Only Two Rushes in Second Half? --

Mon Oct 1, 2007 --from FFMastermind.com

The Star Tribune reports Vikings HC Brad Childress was asked about the fact RB Adrian Peterson had only two rushing attempts in the second half of Sunday’s loss to Green Bay after rushing for 108 yards in the first half. “I’m not so keen on that as him being a good teammate and contributing in whatever way he can like in those kickoff returns,” Childress said. “That takes it’s toll, too. The 52-yard kickoff return, I know he kneeled down with a bunch of them, but we’re going to continue to mix those guys in and out. That’s not something that we run in and look at the statistics and say, ‘Geez, he’s got a 100.’ We’re going to continue to change those guys up and put those fresh legs in there from time to time. Whether it’s Chester [Taylor’s] fresh legs or whether it’s Adrian’s fresh legs.” Childress was then asked if he was trying to save Peterson early in the season. ”I think you’re mindful of that when you have a two running back attack, that you’re not going to use somebody all the way throughout,” Childress said. “And that’s the great thing about having two guys that you feel equally good about and equally explosive about. I think Chester ripped off a 35-yard run yesterday as well [actually 37 yards]. You do that changeup and it benefits both people and it benefits our football team.”

I know about coaches allegiance to their vets, but I hope Childress at least acknowledges to himself, since he clearly isn't doing it publicly, that Peterson is the more explosive runner. Taylor may have other strengths, blocking those "exotic blitzes" for example, but to call Taylor and Peterson "equally explosive" shows talent evaluation ineptitude to an incalculable degree or a refusal to credit the media and fan base with even a modicum of football knowledge. For the sake of Vikings fans, I hope its the latter.

Saying that Peterson and Taylor are equally explosive is like saying Janet Reno and Jessica Alba are equally hot.

:blackdot: :lmao: :lol:That's Chili.
Thanks. Now if you'll excuse me, I am going to lunch. I can't decide between Thai Food and a bowl of rusty nails. Both sound tasty.
Alright your on fire right now. The coaching decisons are getting killed in the papers. Somebody is either going to get fired or AP is going to start getting the rock it is that simple. I think it may take a few more weeks for this to fully take affect though.

Does ADP returning kicks scare anyone else? For someone who when coming into the league had injury questions and is only 4 games into his career and is a franchise player in training, I dont understand them using him in this phase of the game? Its not like they're making the playoffs if he breaks a couple off.

I seem to remember CAR taking Smitty's return duties away once he became a stud WR and then only used him in key game situations or the playoffs. This seems much more logical to me.

While I think ADP has changed his upright running style somewhat from what I've seen, I just really don't want to see a guy like that returning kicks. How many other franchise, or even Top 20 RB's are returning kicks these days? I can't think of any.

...and all this equally explosive and ADP getting 2 carries in the second half even if he had 10 carries for 8 yards in the first half is just plain terrible coaching when he's as good as he is already and as much as a homerun threat as he is.
