Chester Taylor (1 Viewer)

Everyone and their mother are raving about Chester Taylor this week. But in my opinion Taylor will be the most over hyped bust of the week. I don't see the Vikings giving a guy with a injury bug all season who hasn't carried the load at all, 25-30 carries. And if they do, I don't see him being very successful. Taylor doesn't have the homerun potential that peterson has and the Vikings can't throw the ball. The raiders will stack the box with little risk of over pursuing. Benson had 28 carries for 72 yards against oakland last week and I don't see much more coming from chester. His 5.0 YPC is misleading as a change of pace back with only 67 carries. I still think he may be a decent number 2 option in good matchups like this, but expecting no 1 production out of the guy is little short-sided.

Well, comparing Chester Taylor to Cedric Benson is like slapping Chester's mom in the face. Chester doesn't dive to the turf at first sign of contact. Plus, I'm pretty sure YOU could run for 80 and a touch behind Minnesota's offensive line. I expect him to get 20 carries at least and turn those into 100+ yards and a touchdown.

Lets say the Vikings have 60 offensive snaps. With the QB situation in Minnesota, lets say 24-30 pass attempts. That leaves 30-36 rushing attempts. If Chester gets 25, he'll break at least 1 big. Add 3 catches and 130yds, TD seems about right. 160 and 2TD's is not out of the question.

What if we were long-sided?

Good math, except you left out an important variable.Brad Childress.

Yeah, Oakland will put 8 in the box, as they have done most of the season.

But the Min o-line may well be the best in the NFL. Chester will go off, and get at least one TD.

I think Chester looks faster than he's ever looked before and he has fresh legs. Watching every Viking game this season (and that has NOT been an easy chore), I can say that Chester is a very good RB and looks more explosive then he did last season. I expect good things from him, especially against a weak run defense. The guy ran for 1200 last season, he isn't some FA off the street.

Now imagine those short sides were black.

Wonder if there is a lot of pride in a game like this for Minny OL. Yes, AD > Chesta but if Chester can go for 150/2 than maybe it shows the the running game revolves around the OL and not the RB (who gets all the press...) .

Taylor had a 95yd TD run last year. That is about as Home Run as you get. As much as Peterson, of course not... nobody since Barry Sanders has been a take to the house risk like Peterson... but Taylor is no slacker. I deffinately see a good game from him today.

Don't sell him short... Taylor is a tremendous slacker. :pickle:

That's a peach hun!

How quickly we forget about 1000 yard rushers. He was averaging 4 ypc last year too so not exactly below average or anything.

6 rushes for 44 yards and a td at the end of the first quarter.

Looks like he shook that injury bug just fine. Although I think at this point we're being a bit short-sided. It's still the 1st half.

Maybe AP isn't all that after all?

Just kidding, just kidding. But with that o-line, Chester is more than talented enough to put up fat numbers, as he showed last year.

I think I am now OK with starting Taylor over FWP in my PPR league. My wife clinched it when she said she would start Parker. ;)
