Welcome to what most of the NFL has to deal with. I agree generally that the Bears have done an embarrassingly bad job of getting good QB talent in there over the course of decades, but if tonight's not an illusion then that team is definitely vying for a playoff berth and competing for the division. That's not bad.flapgreen said:If forte keeps this up, i agree. orton can manage the ball and we will win some games. The trouble is that Orton sucks badly with anything else. he can't win a game or carry the team in a single game, when he's going to need to. IMO, he's terrible but looks much better than he has in the past. I'm not happy with him playing but he's not doing a bad job so far. There will come a time where is abysmal states will catch up and kill us. He's an average qb at best and won't win many games for his teams. I understand that he only has to manage the game but what about the guys around him on offense. Most of them aren't very good either. Are they supposed to make up the difference? The entire offense pretty much stinks and there's no one to pick up the slack, unless Forte comes in a sets the league on fire.Tatum Bell said:What's wrong with his Trent Dilfer immitation? This team will win more than it loses with him doing that with its defense and special teams, and if Forte continues to perform like he has tonight.flapgreen said:This is going exactly as I thought it would with Orton. He is who we thought he was.![]()

Yeah I saw it and thought the same thing...He looked like he wanted to kick her ###....Pretty funny...Did anyone see Urlacher's postgame interview with Andrea Kremer? When she said "This is an upset. I mean, nobody expected you to come into this new stadium and beat them, especially this decisively. What does this say about your team?" Url furrowed his brow right after she said "upset," looked at her like he wanted to tackle her, then looked at Forte and back at her again. His response? "We expected to win. It's not an upset to us..."Awesome

Expected to win? Well, I think most figured the Colts offense might struggle tonight considering Manning's inactivity. If this game was played mid-season 10 times, the Colts would win 8 or 9 of them. While the Colts are getting ready for the playoffs, the Bears will be home for XMAS with their families watching it on TV.Yeah I saw it and thought the same thing...He looked like he wanted to kick her ###....Pretty funny...Did anyone see Urlacher's postgame interview with Andrea Kremer? I'd be at least a little worried if I were you. The Bears just gave every Colts opponent a blueprint for how to stop them. Apply pressure through the middle, taking advantage of the rookie center (for 6 more weeks isn't it?), press coverage on the WRs for the most part, safteties mostly in cover 2 over the top. Obviously the Bears have a more talented defense than most teams, so some opponents may not have the personnel to pull off the same gameplan, but it certainly looked like they gave Manning and the offense fits with that approach tonight. No, it doesn't make me feel any better, but the Colts will be there in the end, and I doubt the Bears will. So was Manning's inactivity the reason for the Colts were unable to stop the run? Just wondering. And before you start printing playoff tickets, just know that they start after Christmas anyway, and Indy's next two opponents, Minnesota and Jacksonville, can run the ball pretty well. Yes, the Bears got Indy at a good time, but tonight wasn't a fluke performance, it was an ###-kicking.Regarding the game, Forte was damn impressive. I didn't get a chance to see him in the preseason, so tonight was my first look. The kid's got great feet and looked very comfortable out there. And the o-line was much better than I expected. Hopefully this will carry over into Week 2.Expected to win? Well, I think most figured the Colts offense might struggle tonight considering Manning's inactivity. Sure, if you think this is the same Colts team you will see later this year. Somehow I don't think that's the case. I agree with you on this, that the Colts will only get better. That said, why downplay a solid win by the Bears? They played a great game offensively, defensively and on special teams. Is some of that due to the ineptness of the Colts and the fact that they have not played together as a complete team until last night? Probably. But for us Bears fans who had a pretty pathetic experience last year after making the Super Bowl the year before (hard to believe, I know) this felt pretty darn good.Sure, if you think this is the same Colts team you will see later this year. At this point I think we can conclude that the great Olin Kruetz is responsible for all of those botched snaps...Thought it was AWESOME how we fumbled the first snap of the game. Great Rexy memories comin' back there.
Forte's feet are dead sexy. Lovin everything I've seen of this guy.
That defense looked nothing like the preseason first team defense -thank God. Put all sorts of pressure on the QB. Great to see it.
Orton managed the game just fine. Rex would have found a way to keep the Colts in it.
I like how we used the TEs but I'd still like to see them get more involved in the passing game.
Colts do not look good. Manning's play was bad, but his Oline didn't help him at all.
Nailed what? 13 / 21 - 150 yds, 0 INT (doubled the completion % and yds, with no picks...I'd say that's not even close to what you predicted.)I'll take 60%+ completion and NO Int's anytime when you can run the ball for 183 yds at a 4.7 ypc clip. When they play the Vikings and can't run against them, then he can throw for 300 yds and 2 TD's becasue they aren't great against the pass. Look, lets' all agree that he's not Ryan Leaf and he's not Dan Marino. Let's also agree that he what the Bears need with a solid running game and a healthy defense.mr. furley said:i nailed it. what are you talking about, newb?ForteWillLeadTheWay said:![]()

I wouldn't go that far. Last night was clearly Kruetz's fault. Some of the ones with Rex were too, but most of them were the result of Rex pulling his hands out from under center too quickly or his hands being separated and the ball going right through them.I think the thing that impressed me most about last night's game was the offensive line. They opened up some gaping holes for Forte and kept the pressure off Orton. Freeney got pressure on the QB, what, once? The line far exceeded expectations IMO.At this point I think we can conclude that the great Olin Kruetz is responsible for all of those botched snaps...Thought it was AWESOME how we fumbled the first snap of the game.
