This past weekend, we took our daughter to some baseball fields so she could meet a friend. We drove up and the mother and the girl were waiting for us in the parking lot because they knew about my broken leg. When we pulled up, we said hi to the mother and then the little girl started asking me if my leg still hurt. I told her that I was fine, just was having trouble walking with the crutches.

That's when she told me that her and another one of my daughter's friends made me a get well card. After handing it to me, she said that they'd been working on a song for me too.

That's when my daughter and her friend took off to go watch the baseball games. The mother said, "I think my daughter and (other girl) might have a crush on you." Then the mother looked at my girlfriend and said "I guess you're used to that being with such a good looking guy."

We drove away and my girlfriend was like, "What the hell was that? Very odd." What kind of person says that? I couldn't imagine saying something like that to a guy I barely know about his wife.

But even more weird than that is the fact that 10 year old girls have a crush on me. I guess that's better than them hating me. But still very odd.

I think the main takeaway from this thread was that I'm still kind of new at being a dad. And that I arrived into the game later than everyone else involved. Just a couple of years ago, I was the guy out drinking until 2 am and kids were the furthest thing from my mind.

Everything has changed in such a short time. And there are still plenty of things that catch me off guard or surprise me. I was just saying that having 10 year old girls fawning over me is still extremely weird to me. That was all I was getting at, really.

I had the same issue with a couple of my son's girl grade school friends. It was a little weird at the time.

Now they are all about 20 and I'm single. Do I get any love from them now? Nope. My little sister's friend is a different story.

Take it as a compliment, and joke about it with the GF. It might lead to some super happy fun time.
