Anyone knows me knows I am no Sean Payton fan, but the official on this play was ridiculous. Yes, Payton shouldn't have been in the white area, but you can clearly see the official bring his elbow up to make contact with Payton and then shove him as they collide. How ridiculous.

You're right. The ref clearly saw Payton prior to contact with enough time for an evasive maneuver

But instead, the ref made an offensive move and gave Payton a mini-forearm shiver even though Payton was backing away

That said, the ref owns the white area so all's fair I guess

isn't there some HC with an assistant who's job is exclusively to move the HC around, away from stuff?
