Chiefs LB Grigsby Moves To FB (1 Viewer)

Last year the Kansas City Chiefs used linebacker Boomer Grigsby as an emergency fullback during practices. He looked so natural in the position that HC Herm Edwards approached Grigsby at the end of the season to suggest he make the switch to FB this year. The Chiefs have been quietly impressed during offseason practices with Grigsby’s aptitude for his new position and are hopeful he could wind up as the lead blocker in short-yardage and goal-line situations - and perhaps even more. Grigsby has already shown the Chiefs some skill as a runner and pass receiver.

This has been going on for some time.

Boomer seems to be a coach's dream with his work ethic and willingness to do anything+everything. There's some debate as to whether he has good hands or not.

One thing to keep in mind though is that there is no or precious little hitting during the spring in NFL practices and OTAs etc. Much of a fullback's job is based upon hitting so no one can truly give an evaluation of Boomer playing FB just yet. Very very similar sentiments were said about the Giants FB by Gilbride recently.

While you'd figure a LB could hit fairly well, can he find the guy he needs to block rrrrrrrrrreal fast because speedy LJ is on his tail bearing down on him.
