Chime in on your DFS habits (1 Viewer)

Hey guys,

So I am 6 weeks in on my DFS journey and want to pick your brains of a few items. I have had profitable weeks and not so profitable weeks and am back right where I started. I need to figure out a plan and stick with it. There is no way getting around making a bad pick at a position, however I am wanting to improve on my consistency. The things I need to work on are being more mindful of my small bankroll on a weekly basis and limiting the slates I enter. II would like DFS to be more than "making my Sundays interesting". If you would chime in that's great, I respect your decision if you don't. So with that said here are the questions I have:

1. What % of your bankroll do you PLAN to put into play?

2. What % do you ACTUALLY put into play?

3. How many slates do you enter on a given weekend?

4. How many line-ups do you enter per slate?

5. What entry fee games to you typically play?

1 & 2: Generally speaking I am all over the board on the bankroll I put into play. On sundays I have managed to enter and avg of 32% of my Bankroll. I started off being super cautious but have gotten loose the last few weeks entering anywhere from 36-53%.

3. I typically have felt the need to have a line up at each slate. I need to sure myself of this.

4. On the main slate and 1pm slates I usually have 2-3 line ups per slate for variance. The later smaller slates I run one.

5. I still purely to $1-2 games due to the small initial bankroll.

My goal this week #1 is dont make a ridiculous amount of line-ups. The screen looks like a mess when I have line-ups on each slate and then vary them. My goal is to have 1 line up that I feel really good about, and only tweek it by 2 players.

1. 25% of bank first week since then 30%.

2. With exception of throwing in a couple bucks on CFL I stick to it every week.

3. Pretty much just the two main slates. Very little play on smaller slates(most weeks none).

4. 2 cash lineups for each slate with fair amount of crossover plus different lineups for GPP. If I play a smaller slate 1 line up.

5. Currently all 1$ games but I'm getting to the point were I'm entering a lot of contests to get 30% of my bank in play.

I plan on and play 1/3 of my bankroll right now. I may push that to 40-45% once I feel confident in my data. That is based on my history and the fact that I am 85% invested in cash games (doubles and triples) every week so my variance is minimized.

I play primarily $2 games -- and enter a lot of them. Some weeks I'm in every $2 double up I can find.

I play Thurs-Mon and Sun-Mon slates. If I get on a roll I might add some other to the mix, but right now that's all I do.

1. What % of your bankroll do you PLAN to put into play?

Don't have a plan.

2. What % do you ACTUALLY put into play?

80-100%. Mainly because I withdraw each week.

3. How many slates do you enter on a given weekend?

Typically 6-8 since I play college.

4. How many line-ups do you enter per slate?

Up to 10 or so on the larger slates. Just one on the small slates. Usually just playing those for fun since small slates a total luck with everyone having the same players. Kicker/D is often the deciding factor.

5. What entry fee games to you typically play?

Mostly $2 with some $5, $10, and $25 sprinkled in.

I'm the equivalent of the people who play the penny slots at casinos.

1. What % of your bankroll do you PLAN to put into play?

10-15%

2. What % do you ACTUALLY put into play?

10-15%

3. How many slates do you enter on a given weekend?

Max 2. If the Thursday game either has guys I really want to roster or if I want to fade it entirely, I'll put some Thrusday lineups together. Otherwise, just Sun-Mon.

4. How many line-ups do you enter per slate?

2-3

5. What entry fee games to you typically play?

$1 50/50s and the occasional $2 double up. I also put about $2-4 a week into a combination of 250 player leagues and a big tournament.

I don't know what my bankroll is as in at what point I would cut losses. I played $300 max the first three weeks, was down a couple hundred, felt saucy week 4 and put in $500, hit, played a grand week 5, hit, played 2 grand week 6, hit. When I was hot with NBA I limited my play to $2500 per night (just seems nuts at some point). I will do the same with NFL. I'm up 3 grand on the season.

I play two slates for sure. Sunday Only gpp at Fan Duel (which aren't yet posted?). Sunday-Monday cash games at DK. I might add slates depending on if a fade or something looks good to me, but I avoid Thursdays at FD (smart fade or not I've been burned by the lock enough). I really need to dump FD altogether and move gpp to Yahoo! or go DK only.

I'll be between 1-3 cash LUs at DK. 50 to 100 unique LUs in a FD gpp, so far. I'm likely maxing at 200 this week if I have the time. I see a few juicy stacks to exploit, but could change my mind easily.

Cash up to $100 entry fees. $2-10 gpps.

Other Habits.

I watch every game pretty carefully, and often watch them more than once. I've watched three this morning.

I try to project teams to their next opponents often having games on split screens.

I do not use a spreadsheet. I make a couple pages of notes. I use a word doc. :bag:

I narrow slates by o/us and personal opinions.

I follow disciplined rules of lineup construction.

I do not rely on any outside projections for now. A two week successful experiment destined to crash and burn.

I've replaced fantasy experts with beat writers and coach's press conferences. Doing so faded Lacy and played Starks. Played Alshon. Stacked Stafford and Calvin. Stacked L. Miller and the Dolphins D. I had some very high scores last week. Still can't pick a kicker to save my life.
