Chris Johnson sets a goal of 2500 yards rushing (1 Viewer)

well hopefully this game ends this discussion.

now 2500 goes from exceptionally unlikely to all but impossible for this season.

even if he had gotten credit for his 85 yard run, he'd be still be off pace.

great call that he wasn't going to get 2500

I'm calling under 1500 and i'm sticking with it.
awesome

Johnson needs 179 rushing YPG over the final 12 games to reach 2,500.

Foster needs 164 rushing YPG over the final 12 games to reach 2,500.

Peterson needs 162 rushing YPG over the final 13 games to reach 2,500.

But we all know Hillis will get there by week 14. :X

Well he got over half way there... lol.

for what it's worth I like chris Johnson to have a GREAT season next year... I just had a strong gut feeling that the year after his 2000 yard season would be good, but not great.

To his credit, he had probably the 2nd or 3rd best season after a 2000 yard season.

Next year the team should trend upward and i like it.

Chris Johnson is still an amazing RB in this league. His team was just in dissaray. And Kerry Collins is not the right QB for him as a fantasy player to have success with. Kerry Collins refuses to check down....ever. Save for one game this year (prime time game in week 14 or 15 I believe) when he dumped off to CJ numerous times, Collins is not a good QB at all.

I expect a nice rebound in his TD numbers next year as this team is not far away.

In my PPR league Johnson finished .5 short of 3rd place.

1. Foster - 461.0

2. Hillis - 359.2

3. McCoy - 340.6

4. Johnson - 340.1

5. Rice - 338.5

6. Peterson - 334.9

So basically, out of all the RBs drafted in the 1st round, CJ did the best. Were the other 3 even drafted in the first 3 rounds in most leagues?

7th in a non-ppr, 8th in ppr in FBG's scoring through week 16 (which is what matters)

that being said, what a bunch of messed up stats this year.

Is Hillis the RB to finish highest ever who was undrafted in most leagues?

Here's a damn good team put together with waiver wire picks

QB - Vick or Freeman

RB - Hillis, tolbert

WR - LLoyd (is he the highest finishing WR who was undrafted and nearly out of the league ever?), Steve Johnson

TE - Marcedes Lewi or Pettigrew

It was a truly wacked year. I hope things normalize next year. This year was the year of the waiver wire no question.

The curse of too many touches the season before held true once again.
If the curse of too many touches meant that you would drop from #1 to #4 in rushing in the NFL, then there would be no curse of too many touches.Try again.
Let's see. Johnson proclaimed that he would get 2500 yards rushing this year.Actual rushing yards achieved: 1364Fail!
This is barely worth a response. First, you took CJ's proclamation seriously? FAIL! Second, what does his proclamation have to do with what I was saying? Answer: Nothing. FAIL again!EDIT: You seem to do a lot of failing on these boards, Bronco.

CJ1.3K is running his mouth again:

Johnson talking 2,500 yards again: The Tennessean reports that Titans RB Chris Johnson, who ran for 1,364 yards in 2010 after he set a goal of 2,500 yards, is making bold predictions again. Johnson said Wednesday he has the same goal for 2011 -- 2,500 rushing yards. “I want to win more, but I still have the same goals. I want to go for 2,500. … It is very realistic," Johnson said. "I had a good season last year. I know a lot of people said I didn’t have a good year, but I did. When you put the stats up there, I had a good year. Some people say I had a bad year, but I set my standards so high people expect that.’’

:(
I would rather hear my RB say he wants to rush for 2500 and has high standards than 1100 yards and sets average standards  In any event, I like it when a guy puts it out there for all the world to comment on. Even if all it amounts to is a thread on a message board in January.

So we have that, then.

It's a fantasy. He's going to basically double his rushing total of last season before even knowing what the offensive system is?It's nothing but :hophead:

Feel free to bump this and make fun of me if he pulls it off.

Bumping posts for I told you so isn't my style. I don't think it's a fantasy. He's one of something like 5 people to run for 2000 yards. He's got the talent. He will likely get 2 extra games to add to his yearly totals. He is a good kid that is setting goals for himself. Yeah, he likely won't reach it, but I don't see why anyone needs to be negative.

Even with 18 games, it ain't happening. Not being negative -- just speaking what I perceive to be the honest truth.

Agreed. And it's not because I have an axe to grind against C.J. I just don't think it's possible. I take that back. With 18 games (if that comes to fruition) it's definitely possible. But I wonder if the guy maybe underestimates just how special 2K really was. So much needs to fall right for that to happen.

usually goals DO help - except in this case . . .

sometimes a runner has to stick it in there and take the tough 2 or 3, instead of trying to stop cut and get the long run every play (and losing yards in the process) . . . more than one "expert film watcher" notice the change in his running style this year to the above . . . his goal should be to depend less on the homerun and a little more on the 4-5 yards inside . . .

btw - his Success Rate (football outsiders stat) dropped to 39% (it was 44% and 45% the last two years) . . .

:lmao:
horrible.

I moved him to my #1 RB for 2011 based on him bouncing back after a down season by his lofty standards

but terrible predictions like this that he can't even come close to achieving sour me on his mental state.

I'm all for setting high goals... "shoot for the stars.. if you miss you're still at the moon!"

but saying he's going to rush for 2500 yards is a lame goal that's just not reachable and the team wouldn't even let him reach it if he could because they'd be burning him up with reps/carries.

If he said his goal was to break Dickerson's rushing total (which is an extremely lofty but make-able goal) then I'd be excited for him.

2500 is a stupid publicity stunt and makes me dislike him

You are being negative, it happens to coincide with what you think is the truth.
So you disagree, Mr. Positive? How much would you like to wager on this?
Oh yeah. I love betting people from the internet. Maybe you should skip the bet and offer to beat me up instead.

That's an awfully negative attitude there, sport. :goodposting:

At this rate, he'll be lucky to reach 500 on the season.

Perhaps he's preparing some colossal breakout game where he rushes for 2,000 yards.
