Chris Wallace announces he is leaving Fox for CNN (1 Viewer)

Just announced it; didn’t give an explanation.

To me this is much bigger than Brian Williams and makes me very sad. Wallace, like his father before him, is a news man with great integrity. In a society in which so many don’t trust news reporting any longer, I think it’s fair to say most people trusted Chris Wallace.

And as for Fox, who is now left to represent that network?

One guy who is no doubt happy about this is Donald Trump. Back in June, Trump called Wallace a member of the “radical left” and demanded to know why he was still on Fox.

Going to CNN
OK Never mind. Now I see it.

That’s great news for CNN.
But it’s awful news for our society. Because most conservatives don’t watch CNN, they watch Fox. And the one guy on Fox who was willing to tell them the truth is gone. Which means we’re going to be more divided than ever.

Will have zero effect on Fox...none...Wallace is better off going to CNN as it is a better fit for him...will be interesting to see if he goes further left in his new home.

Wallace and Shep are the only traditional "newsmen" left.

Difficult to hate on either of them.

ETA: And top shareholder of CNN (John Malone) said he wants to bring the network back to the traditional news model. This is a confirmation of that. Good on him.

Everybody says stuff like this, and nobody disagrees.
But the sad truth is people don’t watch traditional news anymore.

For example, let’s suppose Chris Wallace was given an hour long serious news show and it ran at the same time as Tucker Carlson on Fox and Rachel Maddow on MSNBC. We all know what the result would be: Wallace would be dead last in the ratings. He’d get killed on a nightly basis. Because people don’t want the news; they want opinion that agrees with their already held convictions.

Chris”will you renounce white supremacy “Wallace .
One of his best questions in the debate. Kudos to him for being brave enough to ask it. Shame on Trump for his non-answer, which directly contributed to some of the deaths that occurred on January 6.

With the Chris Cuomo debacle and Don Lemons sexual harressmnt trial coming up as well as his Smollett issues. Not many people trust anyone at CNN so they needed to stabilize the cast.  Wallace will at least give CNN a little integrity.

CNN isn’t the problem here.

Idk. Of those 3 choices I'm watching Wallace. But your probably right.

For what it’s worth, Wallace’s CNN+ show will include interviews of people in “sports and culture”.  I’m sure he’ll enjoy mixing it up but it will be quite the change in style.

Seriously good point here.

If I found out a friend of mine was paying for subscription TV news, I would have to question our friendship.
I’ve been thinking about this a little more and have reconsidered. Although CNN+ in particular may or may not be the future, streaming of some sort will be. If someone is a daily cable news watcher, those ads must be a major annoyance. CNN+ will only be $6.95 a month.

As far as a TV News show, this new show may very well become the best one out there.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like it will be a one hour show released on weekdays.  Mostly news and politics but the occasional interview with a celebrity.  I assume Chris Wallace would only agree to this if he received near complete control of the show.  Chris Wallace has the respect and the connections to get top interviews.

I think I'd prefer to stay away from all news shows but if I had to pick one, this would probably be it.

After Shep Chris Wallace was the best Fox had to offer as far as serious news went.
Brett Baier is good. If he leaves Fox will strictly be opinion people and ex-Republican politicians. No true journalists at all. I think??

Nah, the average fox viewer already didn't listen to Shep, Wallace, Beier, etc.

Nope.  Bret Baier - by a mile.  He's their anchor and hosts their nightly news hour at 6:00.  He's also done a great job moderating debates over the years.
bret still promotes some of the nonsense of the right - like the election being stolen

You have to admit, it's a good strategy by CNN. Nbc pried away Megyn Kelly and then completely destroyed her and her career.

Same happened to Chris Wallace. They'll give him the big paycheck and let him go for a few months and then they'll be some made up scandal and he'll be shuffled to the has been bin.  Boom. Another Fox News personality taken out.

If you can't beat them, lure them away with the big paycheck and then get them when you control them.

Great move by both of them.

CNN has a serious credibility problem.  They do not have an actual "journalist" on their team, and Wallace brings that quality.

Wallace was always out of place at Fox, and likely was never happy there.

Both Wallace and CNN can come through this in a much better place, providing that the folks at CNN do not try to force him to tote the liberal dogma.

I don’t see cnn with a credibility problem.  Maybe some credibility issues but far more credible than Fox.

the credibility “problem” stems from the lemmings that follow trump at his every lie

Why was he out of place on Fox?

Why was he out of place on Fox?

Fox only seems centrist right now because of the hardcore slant adopted by traditional MSM over the last 6 or 7 years.   Fox is still inclined toward sensationalist journalism.  Wallace has always subscribed to traditional journalism and journalistic integrity.  He hit both sides of the ideological spectrum with equal force. In fact he should have been a prime time anchor for Fox, he was just that good.

If CNN and the others can forsake the leftist inclinations toward their reporting and get back to journalism with integrity, I think Fox will look ever more extreme.  JMHO

They aren't leftists. I'm a leftist. CNN and MSNBC are corporate propaganda machines. Fox isn't now nor has it ever been centrist and that's by design.
