Christian McCaffery for 2 2018 1sts/Larry Fitz?? (1 Viewer)

12 team PPR. Start 2 RB, 2 WR, FLEX.

I was offered 2 2018 1sts (most likely mid-late) and Fitz for Caff.

My top RBs are David Johnson, Caff, Dalvin Cook, Perine.

My top WRs are Antonio Brown, Cooper, Baldwin, DeSean, Enunwa, Godwin, Stills, Woods.

Fitz would slot in as my WR4.

I currently have no picks in 2018 until a (projected) mid-late 3rd.

Is this deal worth doing? If done, I could potentially flip Baldwin for what is projected to be a top 3 pick in 2018, as we've already discussed a deal. Is it worth doing this, or do I just stand pat for now?

Fitz isn't really a factor here...likely to retire and you have adequate wr depth already.

You are certainly in trouble at rb2, and that would be made worse by dealing McCaffery, but I would generally jump at the chance to flip one 1st for two.  Ideally you can find someone servicable on your waiver wire to plug in as rb depth for this year.

In a perfect world, you would negotiate a younger piece for Fitz, or flip him for youth/picks after acquisition.

Sure getting a twofer is great, I agree that fitz is a non-factor, you don't need him. So for me it comes down to assigning values- using current adp it would be 1.03 for let's say 1.06/1.10. That seems fair. Best case scenario let's say 1.03 for 1.03/1.07, which I'd do. Worst case 1.03 for let's say 1.09/1.12, that's probably not enough. So if you're confident in your projections it seems fair to good to great, but there is the risk you get two later picks and get burned.

Snorkelson's values are in line with my thinking too, but I also do a lot of trading with rook picks, so flipping one "on the clock" for two later gives me capital to use dealing, even before the risk that they end up being late picks materializes.  So I still out a premium on going back from one fixed asset to two variable ones.

And getting stuck with two late 1sts is hardly the end of the world.  If you dealt McCaffery for players that ended up being John Ross and Alvin Kamara, it's far from terrible.

I'd probably also take the 2 1sts, I don't see much difference in quality between CMC and Cook, and Perine is a solid prospect. I think Fitz is being underrated by everyone else here, in PPR he's on the WR1 borderline this year, sure it might just be this year, but this year matters too.  I'd be happy with Fitz/D-Jax as my 3-4 WR's, and then deal Baldwin for that projected high 1st rounder, and have 3 1sts next year.

To me the key is.....OldTomMesko has zero 1st round picks in 2018.  So he has to decide if McCaffrey's potential is high enough to overcome that.  I also think Cook has better potential to be the main guy THIS year.

If I were him, I would take the deal for the 2 1sts and Fitz, and I would immediately deal Baldwin for a high 1st if he can indeed make that deal happen.  Fitzgerald is not going to be much different that Baldwin THIS year, and he would have 3 1sts next year to help restock at RB and a WR replacement for Fitz.   Or midway through the year, he could use those 1sts as trade capital to trade for a better RB2 to win this year....like Demarco Murray or Lamar Miller.

OldTomMesko can make these two deals and pretty much not lose any competitiveness this year while allowing to draft additional talent to stay in the mix for years to come.  These kind of deals is how you dominate in dynasty leagues.....hopefully he pulls the lever on both deals.

Good luck.

Thank you all for the insights...here are some updates...

He ended up dealing Fitz in another deal, but is offering Jamison Crowder in his place now. I'm really high on Crowder. I'm just wondering if it's worth giving up a top 15 WR in Baldwin and a high-potential RB when I'm weak there, just to move back into the first round, and pick up a WR3 (having Crowder/DJax at my flex). I feel like my biggest question is the urgency of it. Should I hold still, chase the ring, and then deal in the offseason? Or do I make the move now?

I'm confused, I thought you were giving fitz and caff for two 1sts. You have no 1st or 2nd as of now, and could deal those guys for 2. Now you say that he dealt fitz and is offering crowder, so what is the current offer exactly?

edit: I just read it wrong from the get go, I think it's the way the sentence is spaced.

Anyway, yeah I do that deal, and I probably do the Baldwin deal, I think crowder and Baldwin end up near each other, and woods or enunwa could both get a lot of targets and garbage time stats this year. I'd try to find a way to get a vet rb, maybe Doug Martin or gore to give you some cheap depth.

The deal IMO is not a great as the first one, in that you will have to sacrifice some at WR, since I think Baldwin is a clear step up from Crowder.  But you gain flexibility for next year or allows you trade capital for a better RB2 for the stretch run, which IMO is really important.   Also a plus is that Crowder is young and if he breaks out, you have a nice dynasty piece.  I think you're still a contender this year even with Crowder as your WR3 (or you do a Crowder/DJax committee at WR3, nothing wrong with that)

Given that you're really high on Crowder, I would still pull the trigger on both deals and get 3 2018 1st rounders.  I think the flexibility is worth the loss of McCaffrey and the dropoff from Baldwin to Crowder.  Trade for a better RB2 if have to if Cook doesn't pan out right away, as long as you don't give up your premium 1st rounder to do so.

Good luck!

I like Crowder a lot in a dynasty and think he is worth a 1st.  Getting him and two 1st round picks for McCaffery is a good deal for you.  I didn't love it with you getting Fitz since he has no long term value and I generally prefer quality over quantity so 2 later 1st for a top rookie doesn't do much for me, but with Crowder instead of Fitz I would do it.

I think Crowder is a ton better than Fitz long term, and only a slight downgrade this year. Frankly, long term, I'm no sure Crowder is worse than Baldwin, i'm a huge Crowder guy, and fully expect him to be the #1 WR in Washington long term.

You guys are higher on Crowder than me, even though I agree Crowder is worth more than Fitz from a dynasty perspective..  I want to see Crowder perform as the #1WR (pretty easy to perform well when DJax, Reed and Garcon were getting all the attention).  Also, there is no guarantee that Cousins will be in WAS in 2018.

That said, OldTomMesko still should pull the trigger on both deals.  Crowder breaking out would be icing on the cake.
