Okay, this opportunity seems to really be happening. So its gut check time. I'm sorry if this is too specific for some of you, but there have to be Michael owners finally getting decent offers in dynasty leagues right now, waffling. I'm one. I've been offered Perriman for Gore and Michael, for a building team. Seems like a no-brainer but damn, right when I might get a return on Michael?

I'd do that. That's essentially a late first for him and you can flip Gore for a second to a contender with RB need. Sounds like a good return.Edit sorry read that wrong. Might not do that.

What makes you think this is a good trade for you? Perriman is injured and hasn't done squat in the nfl yet. Michael has unreal potential behind that Dallas o line. He could be demarco murray 2.0. Or he could be nothing, granted. But still, I think you have to hold and see. Selling now could end up selling LOW and could lead to a sudden desire to jump off a tall building.
Personally, I'd rather let the opportunity pass me by to sell him and risk getting zip if he flounders. He has the natural talent be be elite.

CM is on my bench and I hope for the best, but if you 'might consider' a 'proven stud wr' then you are way over valuing a guy who is all potential.
If I got a viable #2 RB or WR depending on my needs, Id likely pull the trigger.

Its dynasty. No ones doing that. No one was offering a 2nd round pick a week ago, and a building team has to weigh the possibility of trading a potential "nothing" for a pedigreed 1st round WR who was just a mid-1st in dynasty three months ago.

Can you define proven stud? Stud is a pretty powerful word for fantasy purposes. When is the least stud receiver?

Yea, I'm not really a Perriman believer at this point, he's all potential too.
In a dynasty haven't been offered anything for him but trade offers are down this year overall.

Trust me, I get the potential Michael has. I've held him for years in this league after spending a late 1st or early 2nd on him originally.
But the opportunity to turn what looked like a bust a month ago into a guy who was just a 1st round WR...that's tempting. Perriman will hold value for a while. If Michael doesn't blow up soon he'll lose all value and you'll be stuck holding nothing.

Agreed SKINS. Michael is on his last chance, probably even with most of the die-hards. If he can't make it happen very soon, all value will be gone. And you are absolutely right that a highly touted rookie will have a much longer shelf life at this point, no matter how little they've shown so far.
Essentially what I'm saying is I'm not trading him unless I'm basically raping the other owner. I cannot live with myself if I trade cmike away and he becomes Demario murray 2.0 in Dallas. Especially if I traded him for a "viable wr2". I would hate myself. Wouldn't you?
So, for me, I'm not trading him until I see where this goes for him in Dallas. I realize that comes with the risk of getting nothing for him if he implodes and gets released. That's a risk I'm willing to take based on his sheer talent.
With that said, if someone in my dynasty league offered me a guy like mike Evans for him, or even a guy like Kevin white who has insane potential...ill trade cmike for that. Just not for a solid wr2 who has hit their potential.
Does that make sense?

In terms of dynasty and not going for an established low ceiling player it makes sense. The RB upside of CM doesnt come along every week, but it is still upside, none the less.
And upside that has had chances and not performed enough to ever get past upside. That is why Id be wary of valuing him like an upside but lesser known rookie type.

let me ask you this. What can happen in the next 14 days to change his value for the worse? He could get hurt but that's not likely and no different than any other guy. He could just stink and not get any yards against the Giants but that seems unlikely. They've allowed 130 points to running backs this year. But even if that happens, he's still in the mix the next week and the next week after that because Randle and McFadden are sub par so Michael is going to get multiple chances to win this job. Say he doesn't get a handle on it for three weeks, at that point his value might decline. I really can't see selling him right now. Not on the cusp of his big chance behind DALLAS' OFFENSIVE LINE!!!. This week is the first culmination of this thread, the day of reckoning, don't sell now. If he looks good, you will be getting much better offers than a hurt prospect who may or may not be any good....you be getting offers for proven players.

A lot could happen to his value in 14 days. The hope of this potential opportunity is what's re-inflating his value to acceptable sell levels, like the offer I got. If he looks like crap or doesn't get much of an opportunity next week, the excitement fades and an offer like this goes *poof*. Michael has a sky high ceiling but his floor is nonexistent. For some owners it will make sense to finally use this optimism to make a profit before they have to see whether he's for real or a bust. There hasn't been a potential sell-high period like this on Michael for years.

Nah, this isn't the sell high point. You really think his value is going to lessen between now and game day based on what his coach just said? I don't, excitement is going to build. And if he struggles after the bye week, guess what, he will get another shot the next week or two unless he fumbles it away.

The problem is also the Cowboys' defense is mediocre. Yes they have had injuries but it doesn't matter. I think the Cowboys should ruin it 40 times a game and let everyone eat and it would do them a lot of good, but the playcalling in that they have stopped running altogether and relied on McFadden in the 4th has been bizarre.

Good point about the defense. However I think that could change in the second half with Hardy and McClain back in the mix and Gregory hopefully to join them soon. If they can keep Lee upright that defense could improve dramatically.
However I think they can only improve so much with the offense not being able to generate first downs and sustain drives. If they do get Dez back soon, I think Cassel can do just enough to keep the offense moving and improve the outlook of the team. Without Dez though I would not be hopeful for any component of the Cowboys.

Forget Cassel and Williams... All the guy needs to do is solidify the job, come playoffs time he'll have Dez/Romo.

Here's the thing. It's a 3 headed monster until or unless it isn't. Michael is one of three things. He's either worse, same, or better than The current tandem of Randle and McFadden. So this plays out one of three ways.
If he's worse, he's garbage and you cut him for the next player on your watch list. He isn't really going to have much fanatic value moving forward and he's probably out of the league ala Zac Stacy or Montee Ball. But you at least don't have to carry him any longer.
If he's the same, his value is basically ties with Randle, he's roughly the same age and not good enough to rely on for fantasy. Career committee back at best, think Terrance West or André Williams. Maybe help you in a pinch but more of a Rb 5 or 6.
If he's better he will take over this backfield. To what extent will be dictated by how much better he is. I think the sky is the limit. Tevin Coleman was part of a committee just a month ago, not so much any more. Because the divide is evident and the Falcons aren't going keep going back to the clearly lesser player.

Pretty much agree but Coleman is clearly lesser? He made a huge error with the fumble and deserves his status as the #2 behind Freeman (and the benching after the fumble too) but he does not appear to be clearly lesser when the ball is in his hands.

I agree. Randle isn't suddenly going to be good. They've seen him a few years and realize he's not a starting back. Of course, no one knows if Michael is either.
