Ever since I got to TH7, I've been getting destroyed when attacking other bases. I've been getting by well without really getting too deep into the strategy, just building armies, picking up the phone when they're done, and more or less throwing the entire thing at the first juicy looking base with enough resources to make it worthwhile. But ever since I got to TH7, most of the bases have very low levels of resources, and the ones I do find are hard nuts to crack, and I'm getting wrecked.

So anyone got some tips? TH7, around 1,000 trophies.

What's a standard army build? I generally go with 10-14 giants, some wall-breakers, a few goblins for clean-up duty, and the rest archers. Oh, and two balloon things in case there's a base that can be exploited from the air.

I don't have enough scratch to build the building for healers yet, that's what I'm trying to save up for. What level should my players be at right now (star level, I mean).

Any help appreciated.
Go for healers. Giants w healers has been my bread n butter.General comment for the group: max out EVERYTHING before you upgrade your TH. There's always a learning curve and corresponding ### whooping that goes with each TH upgrade so be prepared. Don't move up half baked

Yes, for TH7, at normal trophy levels, I'd go with 2 healers, 12-15 giants, as many wallbreakers as you feel you need, and then an assortment of the rest of the ground troops.

Pick bases that have only one air defense, and preferably either outside the walls, or that you can have your giants target as first thing they attack. Deploy giants, and as soon as they start to take fire, drop a Heal spell to protect them if needed. Place it ahead of them a little, not right on them, so they will walk through it and be in it longer. Soon as the air defense is done, then deploy your healers. The giants with healers will likely kill most towers in the base on their own then.

Don't deploy archers/barbs/goblins if you can help it until after the giants are in the base with the healer following. The healer will heal any injured unit. So if the giants hit a lull in the fire and get fully healed, the healer might fly off to heal an archer if you put some into combat elsewhere.

My current TH7 build. I'm still saving for dark barracks and my other Tesla. Just got dragons, upgraded the new walls, and started my lvl 4 balloons upgrade so I'll be able to start saving for the remaining buildings. After that it's time to upgrade everything as I have not done any defense upgrades yet.

Yep. My standard attack is to focus on the air defense (I avoid TH7 bases because they have two of these) with my giants. I'll drop a heal spell on them while they are taking it out if they are under heavy fire. Then as soon as the air defense is gone, send in your healer. Then watch your giants march around the map, sending wallbreakers in as needed, while your goblins run around feasting on resources. Archers are good to help take out archer towers or cannons on the edges as well, though watch out for mortars as they will chew you up.

i just go with 6 giants 6 wallbreakers a dragon and about 100 barbarians

i try not to throw the dragon in unless i have to

it is probably not the most effective way

I just gained access to the healer, and am still getting a feel for it. I've blown a few attacks due to towers suddenly targeting her if she gets exposed as she is following the giants around.

OK, here is my take on the sub 200. It is nothing too different than Greg's take but the first time I tried it, I was super frustrated with it since i didnt have a good grasp on its purpose.

I am currently at th7 and plugging away at upgrades like everyone else. One of my biggest problems was my army build. I have gotten into a bad habit of relying on 2 heal spells which cost 36,000 elix alone. Add to that a build of around 2 healers, 10-12 giants, 25 archers, 30 gobs and 6-7 wall breakers and I was putting out close to 70k elix just to go into a base. So I would go in, take it down but not really gain elix. Usually would make it back. This made it difficult to upgrade things that need elix. I was also spending any gold on walls so I didnt have any extra at night and pink walls are a huge deterrent so that is my first priority (stupid 75,000 gc per wall).

I made the push to 1250 the other night and decided that I wanted to give sub 200 another shot based on replays that Greg was posting. Before I go into my results, a few things that Greg has said and that you need to understand going into sub 200

1. You can not be looking for a huge score. They are out there as evidenced by Gregs videos but you have to be OK with small amounts also. Unluckily for me, i didnt find one huge score all night. You also see many of the same bases. Looks like none of the big ones were there for me last night

2. You must, and I repeat must be willing to be logged in for at least 2 hours. If you log off for a minute, you will gain 100 trophies and while not all that painful to get back down, it is an annoyance. This is what got me last time. This time I logged a good 2.5-3 hours without logging off.

3. You also should be building gobs constantly. This way, when you are attacking, they are building. The longest I had to wait to attack was 5 minutes while some giants were being cooked. The wait time with my 1250 attack build was close to 35 minutes or 1 hour if I waited for both heal spells with no boost

So here are my results. Its long so Ill put in spoiler for those that want to look. I definitely played some attacks wrong which is evidenced by the attackers vs the take home. Some clan troops popping out hurt as well as miscalulations of cannons and archers.

So in the end, after a 2.5-3 hour window, I gained close to 1.4 million gold and 1.1 million elix (after troop cost factored in). I was able to start my level 4 giant build, build my dark elix cube as well as upgrade my level 3 army camp. I currently have 753,398 elix and enough walls to still work sub 200 again. I did not get frustrated this time and would definitely stay in this range if I can have the same results. I also am pretty sure my wife no longer wants to ever have the sex with me anymore since she gave a look of both disgust and disappointment when she asked if I was actually writing down statistics from the game. She hates the game with a passion since I never put it down.

Like I said, nothing new. Greg has said it all as well. I am just confirming. I have no idea how VA was able to get to 74. My lowest was 120 or something like that.

ETA: Dark elix cube was started as well

Take out air defense first. Then throw a heal spell on giants to take out mortar. That should free up the archers to shoot at giants and not healer

Interestingly enough, I had exatcly 50 attacks. In the same time span at 1250 level, I was looking at 4-5 (maybe 6) and constant cycling through bases to find one that satisfied the checkoff list

When you tell her you have some special white elixer for her then you have a problem.

It is more of a miscalculation and not paying attention on my part. The giants just start going from defense to defense, but if there is a tower that can't target the giants, but can target the healer... well, the healer will die a slow death.

Love the analytical approach you guys are taking to the game! (I have spreadsheets too... :bag: )

The strategy I used when I was around TH 7 or so to gain elix was to just use a cheap army. Something like 80 barbs, 80 arch, 40 goblins, 4 wbs. Only cost around 50k elix. I would scatter the barbs everywhere, followed by arch, then once the defense was focusing on all of them, send the goblins in a bunch. Use wbs as needed to get to the fat storages. Use spells, but only if needed. Try not to. I used either rage or heal on the goblins to keep them grinding. This worked pretty well around the 1200 or so cup range for building up elixer.

I still use something similar today on occassion (I'm at TH 10 and hang out around 1800 cups). The better elixer building strategy for me now is using hog riders, which builds the elixer very fast but costs a ton in dark elixer. Depends on what i'm trying to save up.

I caught your base yesterday during one of my few 2 minute downspells

:jawdrop:

i am gonna wipe my base tonight and redo it

more compartments, move the CC in, protect less mines and elixir collectors

i now have a level 9 elixir collector

a level 11

and 4 level 10s

gold mines i have an 8 that'll be a 9 in a day

4 9s

and an 11

i think i will keep one builder upgrading either a mine or a collector at all times till i am maxed out

i still have a ways to go on my cannons and towers and the like

Bingo.

When I first hit TH7, I was throwing in multiple variations of troops - healers, wizards, balloons, etc. After getting raked over the coals w/o a consistent combination I went back to the basics. Barbs, Archers, 10 Giants, and 10 WBs. This works miles better against most defenses and as stated it's much cheaper. I haven't used a healer in a while. If i get bored I'll swap Barbs with Gobs and run Gobs, Archers, and 10 giants and 10 WBs. Still does the trick. I can get most resources with both combinations. Sometimes you'll get hammered but most of the time you can 2 star it and get what you came for.

At any rate - I'm still trying to max TH7 with defensive upgrades. Not much fun but I want to max everything at each level before upgrading.

is it better to keep going pink with my walls, or spend that gold on other defenses?
I built the walls gradually. I don't like idle builders so while a builder is on a project I go farm as many resources as possible. Then when a builder come free I a) clean out the vegetation, b) build as many walls as I can with my excess cash then c) kick off the next project. Takes about five minutes and you slowly move ahead on walls.

For example, if I have $1M in gold and my next build is $400K, I would spend about $500K on walls before starting that next build. Then while he is building I restock for when the next builder comes free. At TH6, I finished my walls about 2/3 of the way through my upgrades.

im doing walls first since most people move on seeing them. defenses next

not sure if this is accurate, but what im doing
that makes sense

really though almost every morning i wake up they have destroyed my town hall and i have a shield but lost no resources. my town hall is walled in, but only with level 4 walls.

funny

i try and always keep 1 builder idle, because if i go raiding and get a big score i want to spend it when i get back and not risk it being stolen

Just sent request for fbg2. Clawyer. TH5. Maxing out everything before upgrade to TH6.

Yeah there is definitely that risk. I'm rolling with only three builders and it moves slow enough as it is that I don't want to cut that down to two projects at a time.

But at times you can't avoid it. I was trying to get to $1.2M in gold last night to start my TH expansion and I couldn't log off all evening because I knew some schmuck would come eat up my base and grab $100K or more.

I am #1 in the clan

this is my finest moment!

I'd like to thank the clan for bestowing upon me this honor, I'd like to thank my son Bob, my family...

crap

that's the music

SAN DIMAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL RULES!!!!!

is that THE Lhucks that just asked to join?

i don't have an issue with him joining, as long as the clan chat does not become some big lhucks centered thing

As do I. My son is in that clan and I will be moving over at some point today. No way do I want to have that guy in the clan.

ETA: Dark elix cube was started as well
Thanks for sharing the info.

Agree with all of your points. If I'm going sub200 its a pretty sure thing I'm going to boost at least 2 barracks, and I have every barracks queued up with goblins fully. When another unit starts to run a little low I'll go switch one barracks to put that unit at the head of the list and then fill the rest with goblins again.

From experience down there, I find I can attack even more rapidly with judicious use of barbs, giants and archers to limit the number of goblin losses. For example, if a wiz tower is guarding the gold storage, and he's kind of exposed on 3 sides, then dropping 3 archers, one on each side, will let me rush my goblins past and kill the storage and move on while the wizard tower targets each of the three archers first before he'll focus on my goblins. A single giant if not facing other fire can do the same thing. You have to let the tower start firing at the decoy unit first though, once he starts he won't change to another unit until that one is dead. Towers tend to target units already doing damage to them before they'll target a nearby goblin.

Even just dropping a single barbarian where he only manages to soak up the mortar's first shot before dying can save you a lot of goblins you won't need to deploy to clear out the same amount of resources. Giants have the same effect of course and last longer. There have been times where I actually kill a mortar before sending in my goblins, but that's normally pretty rare and limited to where there's nothing but 1 mortar protecting the resources, as I don't want to destroy more non-resource buildings than I have to so I don't give him a shield and remove him from the possible bases I might get again.

Friggin A. I hate clicking the wrong troop and wasting them. Lost 8 giants thinking I was unleashing a hoard of gobs. :wall:

What's a really good TH6 plan? I've had my mini swastika layout since level 3 and I'm ready to switch it up.
Several of us used the plan that I have. I really like it. Rarely get attacked beyond my TH.
Could you share a link to your TH6 plan?

I like this. interesting that you have the traps inside the walls. Have to consider that. Not crazy about one storage (elxir) being behind only one wall though. But I guess I its time to bring my CC to the center so somethings gotta give.

That's what I've started using also. But i moved all 4 storages to the center and put my CC inside the outter wall.

I'm a week into my TH6 tenure... it's expensive and slow. I have 723 trophies but I think I should get higher for better raiding targets. What's the sweet spot for 40k+ in each gold and Elixer targets? 850?

Wizards are in my offensive repertoire. Damage is ranged and powerful with enough health to absorb a few mortar shots. Can take out a CC dragon quickly while it eats a few barbs.

I like about 900. And you should target 75k plus.
