####. On a 4S. Have been playing for a month with no issues. All of a sudden, yesterday, it starts crashing on boot up. I was able to close all other programs and get it to work. Now, it won't come up at all. &%$#^%$#
i THINK if you delete and reinstall you may be ok, as i think it saves your progress in the game centerdon't try this based on my reccomendation though

i play on a 4s sometimes and have had no issues, play on the ipad more though
It has been acting weird for me on the 4S as well. When I launch, the "loading content" bar moves about a kilometer and then hangs up there and does not move. Quit everything, relaunch, same thing, kill it, relaunch, hope...
That happens to me sometimes when the game is confused about which internet to connect to (wifi or data). I just have to quit and turn one or the other off so there's only one internet source.

8 giants, 1 healer. Turret destroyed, 7 giants go one way, 1 goes another. Healer follows the 1 giant. This is the worst part of my day.
I think it happens to most people... except my attackers, Nope, when my attackers use healers, the giants live for-freaking-ever.

My healers also seem to have a crush on goblins, while ignoring dying giants.

I've gone back to bringing two healers. I have the room for it and it's simply too risky to only have one. If something stupid like that happens, or a balloon bomb thing takes out the first healer, the whole thing is wiped.

I bring between 20-30 goblins and try to hold them back until the last 45-60 seconds or so, once everything is really almost cleaned out. They're so ####### fast it usually works fine.

Nothing like getting this notification on your phone:

Your village has been raided by King Kong!"
Didn't live up to his name though, he got smoked.

Having your anti-air guns set back towards the middle of your set up is really critical. It forces the attacker to make the giants run the gauntlet and try and get to them while taking a beating with no support (unless they throw a potion, which is what I do sometimes).

I've been reading this thread and playing long enough that's it about time I join the boogaloo. My CoC name is "joe." I'll likely be taking the Th7 plunge in a few days.

I've kept certain trees/obstacles on my map if they are in a strategic spot right outside my border, or a few just within, but none within my walls. So 40 is really the max at all TH levels? Have about 20 on my map and there are only 4 that I will clear once I get a free builder tomorrow.

I had about 240,000 available to be looted. Some guy came by and only took down my TH. Thanks Shield Fairy!

On the advice of this thread, I've found the barbarian archer strategy is the way to go if you need to stockpile elixir. It's not quite as effective as my typical giant/healer army, but the build costs are a ton lower. Good stuff.

Good call. My current giants/healers/goblins strategy works great for grabbing gold, but I struggle to make much progress on elixir. Maybe i need to switch it up to get the funding for those dragon and spell upgrades.

So I'm close to being ready to start the TH7 6 day upgrade. Here's my questions, all my collectors will be at level 8 soon, do I upgrade all of them to level 9 (a 2d upgrade each so 20 more days if i dedicate a builder) or does it not matter that much?
Do it. It's one less thing to think about while in the midst of all the TH7 goodies.
It depends on how you play, I would say.

If you get an overwhelming percentage of your resources from raids (as I do), then upgrading collectors should be last on your list, and I wouldn't postpone a TH upgrade for it.

I started my TH8 upgrade yesterday - which might be two days earlier than I initially planned. My decision boiled down to this -- do I want to get the new toys on Friday night or Sunday night?

lol. I could probably start mine today but I want my walls done before hand. I can upgrade resources during the wait time and build up 4 million gold for new toys

Troops can spawn on obstacles so if you're trying to use them defensively, don't bother.

I'll hit TH7 in 3 hours. I don't even know what to do with myself. :excited:

I haven't decided on a layout and I'll be busy at work all day and most of the weekend. But I'll be damned if I'm not going to build as many goodies as I can all over my map like a kid with a new Lego set.

TH7 I think is the first really fun build period because it gives you quite a few good options for walls/defenses. At the lower builds there's just not really much variance as to what will work well.

I wouldn't mind having some options when it came to defenses. At TH6, for example, you might get 10 defensive points. Cannons, Archers count as 1, Wizard Towers and Mortars count as 2. Build any combo using your 10 points. You could still enforce the upgrade level restrictions currently in effect and it would allow for even more variety than just switching up your base layout.

Hmm...seems like I've had trouble in the past putting troops down and have had to reclick multiple times away from the obstacle. You sure about that? Are the obstacles you can remove different from the obstacles you buy (windmill, flowers, etc)?

joined elecboog last night, thanks for pointing me in that direction GR.

Question about donating troops: I just recently started playing so my troops are probably the lowest level for now. When people request troops, should I not donate troops right away since there is a limited space for troops in the clan castle and the higher level troops are probably preferred? Seems like I would be just taking up space with lower level troops. Or is there such a constant need for troops that it doesn't matter much?

Some people will ask for high level. Otherwise give till it hurts.

I've felt units won't spawn right on top of an obstacle, but will spawn around the edges of it. I think if a tree was surrounded by no drop areas, you might still drop there but yes, might have to click around the edges a few times to get it to work. Sub200 you find a lot of people who don't bother to clean up the shrubberies.

I've just had some minor frustrations around unit pathing messing up. Sometimes units spawned on the left back side of a tree will walk around it to the right side before going forward, for no reason I could fathom. Which can affect what building they go attack then, or could kill a WB as he now takes too much time getting to the wall. Can probably count on one hand the number of times it's been an issue though.

I guess as long as there is no benefit to having a totally cleared space (like they will regenerate faster if less are in play) then I'm going to leave around 15 in my spots and clear the others as they trickle in. I'm leaving some gems out there, but it's not like those gems would get me to some nice gem plateau where I can use them for something important.

Did any of you guys get a 4th builder w/o paying? I mean, just earning the 1000 gems from clearing trees and finishing achievements?

I'm at 780 gems after spending a handful on the resource boost. Some of the 20gem rewards for 3-staring certain achievements seem kinda hard. Although "Union Buster" - destroy 2500 builder huts for 30 gems seems easy enough.
I got my 4th and 5th bulider without paying. Getting the 4th and 5th just take time. Make sure you clear as many trees as you can, the gems you find there really add up (especially since they boosted this a few updates ago). Other than that the achievements will add up, there are a few achievements that you should focus on (Sweet Victory, Friend in need, League All Star) but the rest you'll get simply by playing the game.

I'm beginning to regret not having worked more on my collectors prior to TH7. I'm going to make sure they finish to the max prior to TH8. I think it will take me all that time just to max my walls. With TH6 wall maxing was easy so I didn't have anything to spend gold on at that point and I went ahead and move to 7 with fairly low level collectors.
Since hitting TH8 I'm still trying to find my raiding groove. With raiding income down, I am wishing I'd spent more time upgrading collectors... and that's after I did upgrade several while waiting for the TH upgrade to finish. After the initial flurry of new buildings and low priced upgrades, I've now generally got 2 builders upgrading collectors. I've got most of my mines to 10 but a lot of my collectors are still 8. I'll probably hold off on starting other collector upgrades until this 1 gem promotion is over though.
I'd recommend maxing collectors out before moving from TH7 to TH8. Up until TH7 it's not that big a deal to wait on them. TH8 and beyond you'll want them maxed because the upgrades get pretty expensive and it's hard relying on just raiding income.

When I was TH8 my favorite strategy was to do 12 giants, 12 wall breakers, 1-2 healers with the rest barbs and archers. I backed them up with 1 lightning spell (for CC troops) and the rest healing spells (used when the air defense was hard to get to initially or my healers were killed by seeking air mines). Rage is fun but I prefer healing spells because they're cheaper, faster to train and if you keep your giants alive you'll be able to get all of the loot available. With this army i could destroy almost any TH7 or below since they only had 2 air defenses. Once you get your TH8 units upgraded TH8 is a sweet spot to raid IMO because you can destroy all the TH7 and some TH8 and the TH10 bases mostly skip you because of the loot penalty. The key is finding the right trophy range to raid. I'd recommend the 1100-1300 trophy range for TH8.

agreed, the barcher strategy is great to make cash. it works well for both gold and elixir. not quite as well for dark elixir, but i just triple thunderbolt for that most of the time.

Got to TH7 not too long ago, and now have the dark elixer storage. Better to save up 10k for the barbarian king right off the bat, or go ahead and get DE barracks and start using it that way? Feels like it's going to take forever to get to 10k.

Well my town is a total mess now. There's construction and random level 1 cannons and Archer towers strewn all over the place.

I'm TH7 and I have yet to create a DE troop. Just have an empty barracks sitting there. DE is so precious that I save it all for my BK.

Once you have a BK, you have him forever, right? If he gets "killed" he just goes to sleep and wakes up an hour later, something like that?

Yes. I would save up for the BK right out. I created a few DE troops. The early level DE troops aren't that cool. The BK is awesome. I used a combination of serious raids (wiped out entire villages) and the 3 lightning salute to accumulate DE. I kept going until I found a village with 1k+ DE. Or one that was easy to get to.

I paid for some gems. But once I hit th7, I got my 1250 trophies and used the gems on the BK. He was 600, so I used 150 gems on him

Same. I tried the flying bat things once, but wasn't impressed. I'm upgrading it now to get the angry black guys, but that is mostly just because I had gold burning in my pocket and couldn't afford to have another defensive building down for an upgrade. It's also why I'm saying things like "flaying bat things" and "angry black guys" because I can't go in and look at the names of the troops while it's updating.

I've yet to find a better bargain than archers when it comes to just using troops for damage. Giants for the tanking, healers to keep them up, goblin swarm to grab up the goodies once the defense is clear, some archers, and a dragon purely for the fun.

Upgrading barracks is really annoying. I wish you would get a notification when all of the troops you've ordered are done, even if you're not at your max level.

The game has gotten a bit boring over the last couple days for me. Upgrades seem to take the better part of a day, and with only 2 builders huts, my resource collectors basically cover all my expenses. i like to attack people, but lately there's been no point. Start upgrading, TH gets destroyed, shield goes up, save resources in collectors, start new upgrade, repeat.

Not just when killed. He sleeps an amount proportional to the damage taken. So if he's "killed" he sleeps 1 hour. If he is at half health at the end of a fight he sleeps for 30 minutes.

Sometimes you may want to let your giants clear the path and use him for cleanup behind them where he won't take damage. Sometimes I only send him when my goblins are dead and I can spawn him so nearest building is a storage I failed to take out. And once I get the resources I'll quit so he doesn't take more damage while mopping up, causing him to be unavailable for longer. Other times you need him in the front lines and just accept he'll have to sleep it off.

May abandon my trophy push. Seems like 5 raids in a row for about 5 or 6 trophies each, and then one attack will set me back around 25. Broke 1150 once but 1250 seems like it's out of range for my current level. Currently at 1080 and grinding up but I'm obviously doing it wrong lol

I haven't played this cause it looks like a dumbed down version of Age of Empires but the commercials do a GREAT job of piquing interest.

Those two giants chuckling to themselves as they're getting pelted with boulders gets me every time.

Switched over to a barb (120), goblin (40) and wallbreaker (10) strategy. Then I carry a handful of archers just in case (20).

I rarely break out the archers. The barb-goblin 1-2 punch has been amazing. Barbarians are a lot stronger than archers and can take a shot or two from mortars so they are like cheap little tanks out there. And then wallbreakres pave the way.

Been seeing better returns on elixirs than ever before. And now I'm using them to go after DE. I'll never wipe out a big base this way, but spearing into their town center is pretty simple with these guys.

I tried both the normal and the sub200 trophy ranges as new TH8, though I didn't go quite as high as I could have, only went to about 1250. As a high TH7 I was up to 1400 before so definitely could have gone higher.

While I was probably earning gold at about the same rate either way, I ended up staying sub200. I earn elixir much more rapidly there, click Next a lot less (5 or less normally). I also attack more often which is more a personal preference, when I'm playing I like to play continually. Since I play continually, getting bumped back up is rarely an issue for me.

I think you can probably do well at either range though. Best elixir strategy at higher trophies was barb-arch and focusing on bases that had most of their resources in their collectors. But I get annoyed clicking Next repeatedly looking for such bases, so again, personal preference where sub200 is less frustration for me.

Can someone please send me an invite. Just found this thread and have been playing for about a month. Saving up for 750k TH upgrade. Heading back to read from the start to pick up some tricks/tips.

Name should be under [Odin33], tried to join ffguys but it said it was invite only.

TIA
