Can someone please send me an invite. Just found this thread and have been playing for about a month. Saving up for 750k TH upgrade. Heading back to read from the start to pick up some tricks/tips.

Name should be under [Odin33], tried to join ffguys but it said it was invite only.

TIA

Did any of you guys get a 4th builder w/o paying? I mean, just earning the 1000 gems from clearing trees and finishing achievements?

I'm at 780 gems after spending a handful on the resource boost. Some of the 20gem rewards for 3-staring certain achievements seem kinda hard. Although "Union Buster" - destroy 2500 builder huts for 30 gems seems easy enough.
Yes. Once they increased the gem output of trees, it was easy. But it took me months prior to that, when you were lucky to average 1 gem per tree.

Attempting 1250 whilst I wait for TH7 upgrade to complete. As most of you who have done it know, the trophies seem to dry up as the bases get exponentially tougher. Shark move to go after guys with the TH outside the walls and call it a day?

yes. But make sure you bring enough power with you to defeat any traps, bombs and clan troops

No kidding, spring traps are the bane of my existence these days.

Yep. I got there at TH6 by looking for exposed town halls exclusively from about 1100 on. Ignore anyone with a DE storage as that means they are at least TH7 and they just might hide their Teslas around their TH. I had a couple of d-bags do that.

Spring traps is why I like mantis over compartments

these single player maps are almost too easy. I think im on #46 and the loot is 500k/500k! pretty sweet

I found them pretty easy up until the map with 500/500. I haven't been able to 5 star that one yet.

There is a massive balance difference between the turrets and the units. Completely opposite of CoC, you have to hyper-level your HQ to unlock more boats and better units to have any chance to defeat player islands.

The push/pull of resource bases is a lot more interesting than the soulless raiding of CoC, but the imbalance makes it just not fun.

Okay...just started this over the weekend. Trying to get my layout correct. I have an area where one line is on a rocky beach. Safe to assume that I can bump my encampment up against that and build a wall off of it and no one can get in through the water? I'm still a TH3, but looking to move to TH4. Cost of upgrading walls is killing me, so I'm hoping to leverage some cost savings by using the "natural" landscape. Thoughts?

Doesn't work like that. Troops can spawn all around the edges.

I'm upgrading everything before upgrading my HQ and having no issues defeating player islands or the single player islands. All about finding that one weak spot and taking advantage.

Have you hit upgrades that require stone yet?

I can't get out of my own way trying to get to 1250, jeez. Have a decent raid, net some trophies then take on a stupid base figuring I can get in & out quick and lose 26 just like that. Too many TH7's I'm going up against, need to be more patient.

Get my storage with my next HQ upgrade.

Be careful with when you do that HQ upgrade. I had upgraded most things, but not everything, before upgrading my HQ to level 6. Once the HQ leveled up, everything now required BOTH wood and stone to upgrade. Even stuff that only would have required wood at HQ 5. And of course, the stone is really tough to get, and required in high amounts. After that happened, I ended up getting frustrated and stopped playing.

still playing catchup and now omw to TH5. a few questions:

- I upgraded everything except the extractors to max before going to TH5 from TH4. I assume this is the right course of action at every TH level, to upgrade everything including walls and troop upgrades before hitting the next TH5.

- I am keeping my trophy level under 400 as it seems I am having a fairly easy time finding villages to farm and keep my gold and elix levels close to max. Is it this easy at my TH level anyway and I shouldn't bother? Is there any advantage to getting my trophy level up? I could easily be in the 800s by now without even trying, I farm for loot and hit the give up button before my attackers can get to 50% damage and stay away from other TH's. I assume farming for trophies won't be a big deal for me until I get to at least TH6.

- Does my trophy level dictate what the trophy level of the other players are who can view and raid my village? That is, since I am under 400, are only other players in the similar range allowed to see me for raiding?

thx for any tips.

Trophy level is what controls matchups for the most part. Though they say you can get people as much as 200 trophies more or less than you, normally people are within about 50 trophies. It seems like at 199 trophies and below (what we call sub200), the matchmaking also takes TH level into account and won't let you raid anyone more than 2 TH levels below you.

As far as where to farm, if you're finding good matchups, keep at it. Higher trophy levels may have bigger bases, but also can expose you to getting targeted by people higher level than you more often.

Generally you want to upgrade everything before you increase TH level, yes. Wall level and base layout can go a long way towards discouraging attacks. Especially when it takes someone 3 WBs just to get through a single wall.

Not sure which ones youre playing, but I'm on 41 and it's 10k per and a complete biznitch to beat. I use 30-40k in elixr every time I play one and I'm lucky if I get all the loot.

Pretty sure it does. I am basically where you are (TH4 w/ everything fully upgraded except a couple storages and collectors) and I hover between 750-800 trophies. Most of what i see when I attack are TH5+ and when I get attacked it is usually by people in the TH5-TH6 range. I'm fairly certain that when you get attacked by higher level players that they can only take a % of your resources, because I always only lose a small % of what I have, even if they destroy me. For example, the last replay I watched of a higher level player that destroyed me showed at the end that he stole 5k gold out of a possible 20k, but I had over 80k gold in my storage alone, not counting whatever he looted from the collectors. (Don't understand why they all use 120+ troops for a mere 5-10k payout) Likewise, when I attack TH4-TH5 bases, they seem to pay out much more than lower levels.

I wouldn't purposefully avoid trophies unless you are having difficulty proceeding. For me, I have absolutely no problem finding bases that provide 100k+ in both gold and elixir and are easy to take down.

Since coming down to the 300 range I find ones that are in the 40k - 60k without looking much and these I can take two or three villages at a time without reloading my troops. Most of these are TH3 and TH4. Then I wait roughly 8 minutes after about 150 - 200K in gold or elixir in gains. My storage max at TH4 is ~500K. When I was raiding in the 600 trophies range it was slim pickings, I assume because there are so many people at that range. Sounds like going higher than 700 will also yield similar results, maybe even better with people who have bigger capacity.

It's tricky. Sometimes it's better to err on the side of caution and the skip the bases that you're not certain about. Losing 25+ trophies sucks big time.

I've been dabbling in TH7 the past few days and I find that it's really just like TH6 but with much buffer defense. I get more towers, cannon and mortars, and since I haven't upgraded my storage (and i don't have DE) yet I'm not a bigger target than when I was TH6.

It'll be 2 days before my lab finishes upgrading so my offense isn't much stronger either. If there aren't any buildings/upgrades that cost more than 2mil gold or elixer, I may not upgrade them at all so that I'm not tempted to hoard resources and put a target on myself.

I just noticed how crappy the raiding selection is at the 700 trophy level. I need to get much lower quickly or else I'll starve.

No kidding. Once I hit 1180 trophies I only picked bases that were clear wins - ie TH out on the edge. At 1240 I didn't even put my phone down and still took me 3 more raids to break 1250.

What should I start up next two hours from now?

Archers lvl6 7.5M

Wizards lvl6 7.5M

Gobs lvl6 4.5M

Dragon lvl4 8M

Of the 4, I use archers and gobs the most. Part of the reason I ask is because normally I would not choose the Gobs, but they seem to have a nice stat increase. On the other hand, I generally cannot get to this level of elix unless I'm in a gem boost period, so maybe I take one of the others while I can. Thoughts?

Settling in nicely at 1400. I nearly hit 1500 earlier today but fell back to 1400 on some tilt gob rushes.

Doubt ill hit sub 200 again. I'm learning alot about strategy in this range and doing just fine

I am not as far in the game as you, but I'd think gobs would be the answer. They are always useful when raiding.

id go archers, they work in any army composition and theyre better for donating

Struggling with these multi day builds followed by huge res needs to keep them busy. The lv2 dragon upgrade has me choking on elixer for the first time ever and a big target.

One thing I have found after having close to 3 million in elix for a few days is no one will really bother you if you keep your gold down and your de well protected.

Yeah, I'm finding at TH7 that the upgrades are so expensive that you need to save up for them, and builders are coming free so infrequently that there's really no way to avoid being a target at times.

I've now pretty much maxed out the entire game (until the next update). Except for walls, I have nothing left to spend gold on, and just a few lab upgrades that I will never use. So, I'm now starting a trophy run to see how high I can get. My personal best is 2761, but I'm sure I can get above that. I want to break the record within my clan, which is 2875. I'm currently sitting at 2395. I can tell you, it gets really hard, and expensive the higher you go. I don't use gems, so I'm down to raiding only 2-4 times per day and hoping my defense can hold up in between while my collectors restock my stores. Having fun learning the GOWIWI strategy (that's Golems, Witches, and Wizards):

3 Golems

3 Witches

16 Wizards

20 Wall Breakers

5 Barbs

5 Arch

Spells: 2 Freeze, 2 Rage, 1 Lightning (use most of these every raid)

Both heroes (use every raid)

Total Cost, troops + spells = 275k elixer, 3,300 DE. Per raid!!!

Takes about 3 hours to re-cook everything before I can raid again. Spells take the longest.

The goal, and what I would consider a perfect raid, is 2 stars. You're not going to get much more than 50% on any of these bases, no matter what troops you use.
