Cleveland WR situation (1 Viewer)

Diggin' deep here, but for this week I could actually see Robiskie and/or Stuckey having a good fantasy day with Cribbs and Massaquoi likely out, NO's top corners likely out & the Browns likely playing from behind all day long.

Isn't this the type of game where a possession receiver like Robiskie could excell, especialy in a PPR format?

The Saint are about the best against FF WR's this year.

That is against Porter and Greer for the most part though. Saints are down their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd cornerbacks right now. Porter is out, Gay is on IR, and Greer is questionable. Patrick Robinson will start for sure and beyond that I don't know who will be out there. If Sharper plays they may move Jenkins to corner and have Leigh Torrence play nickel but who knows. However it ends up its nowhere near the same as going against Porter and Greer

If you're counting on Brian Robiskie as a fantasy WR, you might as well forfeit the rest of the year.
Counting on Robiskie, no. But I am in a few very deep leagues where we start 3 WRs and two flex positions. I wish I could roll 4-5 studs out there and not think about it. What is your secret how you are not affected by injury and byes?

Avoid like the plague. Watson and Moore may be worth a look this week but the WRs are not. That being said, if you have to chose one, go with Stuckey over Robiskie.

Quincy Butler is the name you're looking for. Yes.

And Torrence can play.

i also think this style of defense is a little different last year's.

I think another factor is teams have not been racing up and down the field to play catch up or keep-up with teh Saints this year. They have been trying to play possession ball to keep the ball out the hands of the Saints' offense. That might hold.

And Jenkins has been playing pretty darn well at safety.

One other thing: it is really hard to remember a WR corps as thin as the Browns'. Massaquoi would not even make the Saints' roster and he's their best. I think this is the game (finally) where the Saints explode; Gregg Williams' line will feast on McCoy.

Just a thought, but it looks like Carlton Mitchell may get his first start this week vs NO. He was a 6th rnd draft pick out of South Florida. Good size and decent speed. Mangini was talking him up in his press conference this week. He didn't look bad in preseason and he may get the chance at the spotlight if Robo and Stuckey are the only other WR options.

Outside of Mitchell, they should put Moore out as WR and use him and Watson more this week. I wouldn't mind seeing a lineup of Mitchell, Moore, Stuckey, and Watson as Cleveland's WR corp this week. I like Robo as a college player, but he hasn't shown anything in the pros since coming up last year, IMO.

After watching the last 2 Browns games, I think that Stuckey needs to be involved more in the passing game. It seems that every time they throw it to him, he manages to get a first down. Definitely the most explosive WR that I have seen out there so far this year.

Not inserting a guy who, in 4 games, has caught 5 passes for 36 yards and no TDs to start. There's got to be better options out there for you.

Grab Stuckey if you're dead set on using a Browns WR. Good luck man, you'll need it. Bye weeks are a #####.
Again, why would anyone ever be "dead set" on using a Browns WR? As stated in original post I am digging deep here. A lot of injuries and byes and the waiver wire is extremely scarce.

I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for with this thread, but to be clear: No, I don't think you should start any Browns WRs. As has been pointed out already, there have to be better options out there. Judging from your responses though, you seem to think the Browns WRs might be a good play this week. If I was going to start a Browns WR, I would choose Stuckey. That is all. Good luck.

Stuckey appears to be getting the looks. Mitchell is a lotto ticket who should see the field this week and could be the explosive threat they need, but I really don't expect McCoy to be throwing long much. Robiske -- nyet.

regarding the Saints D, I think since the secondary is banged up, Gregg Williams will come after McCoy all day and not give him a lot of time. he'll have to make quick reads most of the day.

and I think that the Brownies will probably try to slow the game down and keep the ball away from Drew, so I expect a big dose of Hillis to eat up the clock.

I doubt that any Cleveland WR's will be desirable this weekend, but Watson may have a decent game as a safety valve.

Mitchell stepping up3:02PM ET Carlton Mitchell | Browns There's a chance that the Cleveland Browns could be without a pair of wide receivers on Sunday in Josh Cribbs and Mohammed Massaquoi, although both players could end up being able to play.Rookie WR Carlton Mitchell could be the guy to step up if either can't go, however. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound speedster has all the physical tools but hasn't put it all together yet for the Browns, although that could be about to change. He's earned a vote of confidence from coach Eric Mangini, and he's more familiar with the Browns' starter this week at quarterback, Colt McCoy, because the two worked together a lot during the offseason.Mitchell's physical skills alone warrant the team giving him more of an opportunity going forward, and he could provide the passing game with a nice boost if either Cribbs or Massaquoi can't play on Sunday.- Jeff Dooley
