There was a recent news blurb about Cliff Avril on Rotoworld and it was inaccurate. They stated Avril WILL start, but the source does not say he will. He might. Note the 2 bolded words in the article.

Here is the blurb from Rotoworld:

Cliff Avril will open the season as Detroit's starting left defensive end, with Dewayne White on the right side.

At 6'3/251, Avril will be one of the league's smallest strong-side ends. Teams that start undersized left ends are typically poor against the run, but the Lions are used to that. Avril could be washed out of plays easily with chip blocks.

DeVries already was slated for the starting left defensive end position with Cliff Avril and Dewayne White fighting for the starting job on the right side. yeah, i dunno why, but oftentimes rotoworld tends to make erroneous assumptions in their blurb updates that don't always exactly correlate to what the source they post actually states.

Any update on Cliff Avril's hammy? I know he missed practice today - but do we expect him to play/be active this weekend? I need to decide whether to find room for a DL2 with Tuck out this week too....

He missed practice Wednesday, and right now, it seems unlikely that he would play.

How are you guys feeling about him generally speaking? Are we still high on him as a dynasty sleeper, or can he be cut? I would basically be deciding between him and Steve Johnson to get a replacement this week.
