Clinton Portis (1 Viewer)

I heard he hobbled off the field and didnt play in the 4th. Is there a chance he's out for Thursday? I haven't heard any updates yet.

I think most of us Portis owners are a bit eager to hear anything with the early game this week.

There has been absolutely no indication that Portis is injured and won't play. Everyone is simply going off a quick blurb that Portis limped off the field one play. Honestly, he does that probably every other game.

From the Washington Post Redskins blog:

Coach Gibbs said several players told him they are definitely returning for this game, without specifying.

Guard Randy Thomas (triceps), a key offensive cog, stopped of short of saying he will return Thursday, but sounded swfully optimistic.

"Mentally, I'm there," Thomas said. "Physically, I'm there, And we've got to win this game. I can't wait."

Fullback Mike Sellers (back) practiced fully Gibbs said and it's clear he will make every attempt to play, though the team will have to assess his condition tomorrow after finally getting back on the field today.

WR James Thrash (ankle) is still working through some problems, but WR Antwaan Randle El (hamstring) practiced.

CB Shawn Springs will have to get his back evaluated Gibbs said but the feeling is that it's probably just sore and he will prepare to play.

The Redskins do not have to release their injury report until Wednesday.
The team only had a walkthrough yesterday and are not going to have a full practice for tomorrow's game.Notice both Randy Thomas and Mike Sellers could be back for this game. That will be a huge help for Portis.

Again, absolutely nothing has been said by the team, nor have they been asked as far as I can tell, regarding Portis' health.

This was covered in (several) threads earlier this week, but Portis played almost every down he typically would in the 4th quarter, up to and including the last couple of plays. He did limp off earlier in the quarter, but came back.

As per Rotoworld:

Clinton Portis is listed as probable for Thursday night's game against the Bears due to a shoulder injury.

The Redskins conducted walkthroughs on Tuesday and Wednesday and it's believed that Portis was a participant in both. He's virtually certain to start.

Yep. This is the kind of homer info I'm looking for. It's easy to tell from the home-team beat writers etc. Injury reports don't always tell the whole story. Any talk of a decreased workload (I'm overly paranoid).

man, this is the biggest game of year for Skins, they are battling the Bears, cards, and others for that final spot, it is amazing that 5-7 keeps you in it, but if they win tonight they are alive, a loss and stick a fork in them. Same goes for Bears, it is a big game for both. Portis needs to play and he should play good

It's sort of the Special Olympics Super Bowl.
