faust appreciation thread (1 Viewer)

I've always seen this forum (or any forum) like a game of scrabble. Lots of ways to add words (or posts).

The best words and posts, at least from a making the game fun angle, are long words in open spaces as it gives the other players plenty of room to spring board from.

The worst are adding a couple of letters to a word. It might score points but doesn't help the game much.

For the forum, the equivalent of a long word in open space is a good thoughtful post that invites discussion. It's not "bait" or "engagement farming", it's encouraging good discussion.

And on the other hand, a snarky or mean post has the opposite effect - they discourage discussion.

It's one of the reasons I'm always harping on keeping discussion civil. It's not just the kind thing to do - it's better for discussion.
While I love a good discussion, one thing that turns me off are posts that are too long. If I wanted to read a book I'd go buy one from Barnes n' Noble. I think there is a good balance of covering what you want to say without enundating me with so much information I don't want to read it.

A post doesn't need to be long to be the equal of a long word in Scrabble.

It just needs to encourage discussion.
Oh I know that. It was just a side bar.

bullies suck take that to the bank lambmigo
Got it so voicing a differing opinion and providing examples makes me a bully? maybe my delivery was less than stellar but I forgot what an echo chamber this place can be
Yes, it's everyone else's fault.

Information and discussion are both key parts of the experience here. Discussion is talking to people, not at them.

think overall majority of people appreciate Fausts posts. there's some subjectivity to it but think key is to post links that are interesting/provide useful info vs. just posting things to post them.

I don’t necessarily read everything @Faust posts, but I do appreciate his efforts and often will browse the links of interest. Saves me time from searching things on my own. I came up with a unique strategy for when I do not want to read his links…I scroll past them. Works every single time and no injuries have occurred from the extra finger movements. As far as missing things because of his posts, I have not noticed any issues with that. The forum is full of good posters and important things will usually resurface. Thank you again @Faust.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I lost both of my parents over the last few years, and this place has always brought me a lot of peace in difficult times.
I am sorry to hear about your painful loss. Thank you for all you do to keep us informed and motivated. @Joe Bryant has created something really incredible with this site, and @Faust , you keep me coming back to the Shark Pool for varied sources of information. I cannot thank you enough!

here here.

fully agree. sometimes I learn more by the back and forth discussion than I do from the actual post itself.

but I'm a guy who always appreciates a well thought out and insightful post even if I dont agree with everything thats been said. To that end, I've always found Fausts posts to be either on the mark or very close to the mark and many stimulate significant back and forth discussion that we can all learn from.

not all fantasy football is black and white. there are varying shades of grey and with players sometimes in one situation they do not perform and then in a different situation they do.

that is what makes fantasy football so compelling. it requires a lot of insight at times and not all people on the various boards have that, but Faust does and I appreciate his input and respect his opinion.

look dan you can try the whole people just want an echo chamber thing which is what my uncle does when he is a jerk at a party and looking for cover for whatever dumb stuff he just said but in the end im pretty sure you and everyone else knows you could have made your point with 100% less vitriol and without the repeated sarcastic posts i mean you are one of the good guys around here so it is sort of surprising thats all that im saying take that to the bank brohan

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I lost both of my parents over the last few years, and this place has always brought me a lot of peace in difficult times.

Condolences, Faust. This place brings me comfort as well. Like a comfortable old blanket.

This is me when I see one of your posts.
I get most of my FF info here on this forum.
It is good to hear differing opinions of people in the business.
Your updates provide that and I am very thankful.
Keep up the good work.
God Bless
