Clippers owner Donald Sterling hates black people (1 Viewer)

I don't see anything here worth controversy.
:fishing:
I don't. This is just a dumb conversation between Sterling and a young woman who doesn't sound very educated, who seems to be baiting him with questions just to get some answers on tape. I don't care about what he wants his GF to do or not to do. It's between them.

Jeebus, we've become total voyeuristic society that makes sleazeballs like TMZ a source for news.
I thought she sounded pretty smart. You know, for a woman dating Sterling.

She definitely knows how to get money.

Just listened to the whole tape, doesn't sound that bad. He said he "loves the blacks" and it seems like he doesn't like to get calls from his friends who sound like the real racists. He also seems like an enlightened cat when it comes to his girlfriend getting some strange. He even said he is fine with her bringing a black guy to his

home for her to bang. If he was a really racist I doubt he would be encouraging her to bring black men to his house for her to bang in his bed.

Nothing new as it's been known that this guy is pure garbage for a decade or more.

Stern won't do anything about him, though. Mark it down.

Stern isn't commish anymore.

Very smart...The way she led him into those questions was golden. I did not hear the reason but Why was she recording him again?

Can't believe the Clippers players haven't put out a statement. But, when you are a multimillionaire maybe you see things differently?

What? Why would they put out a statement?
Really? If you were a black man playing for the Clippers you wouldn't have an opinion on your racist boss?
Of course they have an opinion. But expressing it isn't going to accomplish anything.

This tape doesn't provide any information they didn't know when they signed a contract to play for the Clippers.

Certainly can't fault them for that. There are only 30 NBA employers and it really stinks that one of the teams in one of the 2 best NBA markets happens to be owned by an openly racist man.

Though, the Clippers did hold a players meeting to discuss it, for whatever that means.

Somebody please tell me that Chappelle is bringing back the Chappelle Show for one more episode with Clayton Bigsby buying the Clippers.

Though, I guess if he didn't fire it up just for black people to cut Tiger Woods, there is no hope.

The idea that she should be out in public or Instagram with black people while he is going to the games with his HALF LATINA/HALF BLACK girlfriend is just incredible trolling. And it sure did sound like he wish she would remove the "black" part of your identity from some of his conversations.

I figure Colin Cowherd will ignore this situation and spend a good 20 minutes on how John Wall is a "thug" because he danced the Dougie

Are the checks cashing? If so, who cares?
This sums it up nicely:

J.A. Adande ‏@jadandeShould Clipper players boycott? No. The moment to take a stance on Sterling was contract-signing time, not the middle of the playoffs.

NBA Executive Vice President of Communications Mike Bass issued a statement saying, "We are in the process of conducting a full investigation into the audio recording obtained by TMZ."

He continues, "The remarks heard on the recording are disturbing and offensive, but at this time we have no further information."

Just get over it black people. Racism was over when we signed the civil rights bill in the 60's.

These aren't the droids you're looking for. :waveshand:

PS on a weekday Quinoa would be in here slinging LOL emoticons like ninja stars. I'm not sure why but he thinks thats a killer response to racism threads.

Good way for a new commish to make his mark.

I think privately you can tell him to sell and if he refuses, there is quite a bit the league can do to smooth and insulate these types of things and there is a lot they can do to ignore and allow to mushroom.

I would imagine the players can claim a hostile work environment since these comments pertain directly to the basketball operation. If that is invalid, they can demand trades. If that is not an option, if they have to dress, if they have to "play", there is really nothing I can think of to stop them from making a mockery of things and just sitting down on the court. Leave one guy to inbound the ball. What would the league do then?

And if and when people start targeting Clipper sponsors he's in trouble. If they go after national league sponsors... how do they keep him there.

The oddest thing about this is he's asking her to not do that stuff to protect his image?! Really, Donald? Your sterling image?

Sterling is a racist & BS crazy but to quote the great Marion Barry " ##### set me up " "####### ##### set me up "

Probably because he knows blacks are inferior to whites in every way.

To those killing espn for waiting, they do have to substantiate it was him in the audio. If you're a journalistic entity (if they are or not is a separate debate), you can't just take TMZ's word on these type of things.

To those defending them, they are also a broadcast partner of the NBA.

Pretty dopey to think espn would try and hide this, in this day and age. You just can't run with any story that runs across tmz until you have your sources. Espn is the worst ever when it comes to their 'journalism' but this isn't why.

Ok, this starting to blow up now.
Magic is killing him on twitter now.
This is what people arguing that this isn't that big of a deal, or that he's done worse before and it will blow over, don't seem to grasp. This is way different. And these are different times. It's trending, omg. It will blow up. You don't get more loved in LA than Magic. This is the last (any color) guy he would want to go against. And Magic is running with it. He's toast.

Yes, the age of social media we're in is the key. As vile as the comments to Massimino were, that was a long time ago and it didn't go viral in a matter of minutes.
