Cobb a sneaky start this week? (1 Viewer)

Interesting thoughts:

1. McCarthy studied Sproles for Cobb's role (Rotoworld) Coach Mike McCarthy revealed that he watched every 2011 snap of Saints RB Darren Sproles for ideas on designing plays for Randall Cobb. Analysis: McCarthy put those plays into heavy use in Week 1, but Cobb's role has dwindled in two games since. We still believe Cobb's talent and versatility is well worth a roster spot in 12-team leagues. His role could be expanded with the offense struggling to move the ball consistently. 1 day

Still he is an interesting start against a poor Saints D ...the problem is he is likely a feast or almost famine play while other WR or Flex options are likely to score more points most weeks - but not have the ceiling Cobb would

Green Bay needs to win some games so they better not get too gimmicky; I do like Cobb, though.

James Jones really looked solid last week. With Jennings, Nelson, Finley and Jones in the mix with Cobb, I worry there may be too many mouths to feed to expect much from Cobb. I guess that is what makes it a "sneaky" start. I would prefer Simpson to Cobb, but I'm not so sure about Barden. I would lean toward Cobb over Barden.

What is his ceiling though? 5 carries for 40 yards and 5 receptions for 80 and a touchdown? There are a lot of WR's that have 120/1 ceilings. He has a 20 yard floor. There are a lot of WR's whose floor is a lot higher.

I agree...to give a Saints comparison, where people want to see Sproles, they are actually seeing Henderson. Waaaay too little in the department of targets/touches. With so few, I even wonder what the ceiling can bring versus an average WR3...sure it likely would be more, but with such a low floor would you risk 8 points to gain 4?

Cobb isn't sneaky, stinky maybe, the Packers look confused, who know's what role he will play?
I'd agree with this. It started with Cobb being a sneaky pick in the draft and about every week I've seen he's a sneaky start. Eventually he'll have a good starting game, could be this week versus a Saints team that has no D, but the truth is nobody really knows his role. Every offensive starter on the Packers and Saints should be considered a starting option making the lesser looked at options sneaky.
